Course Title: Level 1 Spanish
Course Description:
This course is designed to develop fundamental communicative skills in the target language. Emphasis will be placed on listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in contextual settings. Cultural concepts of the target language studied will be integrated into all communicative activities.I will be using JUPITERGRADES, where you can check your child’s grades on a regular basis. If you don’t have an account please let me or any of the teachers know.
Course Expectations:
➢All students are to be in their seats when the bell rings, with their materials ready to work.
➢If students are absent, they are expected to complete assignments within three days of returning to school. If the students have a class trip, meeting, rehearsal, etc., they are responsible for the homework and any class work missed, including exams.
➢Students will have 3 days to turn in any late assignment; no assignment will be accepted after the third day. Students will have 3 days to turn in any late assignment; no assignment will be accepted after the third day points will be deducted for each late day. Homework is graded on a 4-1 basis.

➢Students are expected to participate in class on daily basis.
➢Students must have a Spanish notebook or a Spanish section in their binders, pen and pencils.
➢Cutting, tardiness (3 lateness = 1 detention), and/or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. If any of these situations occur, the teacher will contact parents, Deans or Assistant Principals.
➢Students will have a midterm exam in January and a Final Exam in June. Also a quiz every Friday and a test every other Friday or at the end of every unit.

Course Objectives:
➢Students will be able to communicate clearly and effectively in a wide range of situations.
➢Students will be able to understand and utilize a wide range of Spanish vocabulary.
➢Students will be taking the Language Other Than English (LOTE) exam in June.

The academic grade for each marking period will be made up as follows:
