1. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 1625 EST by Col Hernando Ortega.

2. REVIEW– Will move to hold AsMABoG meetings on Sundays 4-6pm during future meetings.

3. TREASURER REPORT: Col Duval reports thatSOUSAFFS remains financially solvent with approximately $26,000+. The breakdown is as follows: $2,500 deposited today, $4,000 used for SOUSAFFS festivities; $3,500 worth of sales, the remainder was from membership.

4. SECRETARY REPORT: Two sets of t-con meeting minutes need to be formalized. Proxy Secretary needed.(Capt Nelms volunteered following the meeting.)

5. FLIGHTLINES UPDATE: Col Ortega and Lt Col Hettinger report that the Springissue “Leadership & BOMC” is expected out the week after AsMA. Topics will include initial guidance about BOMC implementation, BOMC feedback and hints, and articles from the past and new Presidents. LTG Ediger, LTG Travis (ret), LTG Robb (ret) will provide articles on leadership.

RAM 2017 members Maj Timboe and Capt McLaughlin are taking over as new Flightlines staff.

6. COMMITTEE REPORTS

Constitution and By-Laws Committee: Col Ortega and Col York to discussduring AsMA conference.Follow-up required.

Program & Social for Atlantic City: Membership table to be manned by RAM 2017 class. The SOUSAFFS social will follow the RAM bowl on Wednesday. Members who update their contact information will receive one free ticket for social, which includes one free drink. Guest tickets will cost $10. The Awards Luncheon is scheduled for Monday. There are 4 extra tickets. The speaker cancelled so Col Ortega will fill time with the State of the FS.

Awards: Lt Col Craig-Grayreports that award production has been completed. The total budget was $750.The ratified awards will be presented tomorrow at the Awards Luncheon. The BOG discussed the following four issues in regards to awards:

1)Awards for nurses and PAs. It was recommended that we split the awards and include them by extending the Olsen Wagner award.

2)Whether to open awards to deployed FS.

3)To include retired USAF SOUSAFFS member eligibility for Schafer Award. The Awards and Bylaws committees will meet to put together a proposal to be presented at next year’s AsMABoG meeting (2017).—follow-up required

4)Julien Award nominations are kept for 3 years by AsMA. Col Ortega and Col York will recommend to AsMA that they forgo this policy only choose winner from current year nominees or choose no winner. –follow-up required

5)Past and current award winners are now eligible for an Air Force recognition ribbon.

6)RAM2017 volunteer needed to hold and manage awards for next year.—follow-up required

History and Archives Report: Not discussed

Info Systems/Webmaster: Lt Col Ramage was nominated as the new webmaster.

Membership: Capt Nelms passed duties to Lt Col Watkins-Nance who will provide status report on the number of members with paid dues, unpaid dues, member who quit. follow-up required

Merchandising Committee: Capt Nelms passed duties to Capt Ashley Franz.

State of the Flight Surgeon Survey: Lt Col Ramage will present at the Awards Luncheon. The 2017 survey is ready to be sent out.

9. NEW BUSINESS: It was decided that this pre-BOG meeting would serve as the BOG. No formal AM meeting will be required tomorrow.
