MS PowerPoint Instructions

Log-In Network

1. Enter Computer Number from Right corner of computer in Username screen.

2. DO NOT enter a password and Click ENTER

Starting MS PowerPoint

  1. Double click the MS PowerPoint Icon
  2. ClickOpena presentation / Presentations from the right side menu.
  3. Click the drop down menu by Look in and browse to and clickMy Documents. ***(To open a file saved to a disk, insert disk andclick the A:/ drive and File Name)***
  1. Double click the ______template file

Save - save IMMEDIATELY so that others can open and use the template, too

  1. Insert Disk into Computer
  2. ClickFile on the top standardtool bar
  3. ClickSave as
  4. Click the drop down menu by Save in and browse to and Click the A Drive
  5. Click by File Name and type the name for your document.
  6. Click Save
  • Clickthe disk button onthe standard tool bar to save every few minutes

Edit the Template

  1. Clickandhighlight the titles and text you want to replace
  2. Type your information
  3. Page down (Right side arrow) to the next slide and continue typing.
  4. Repeat Step 3 until all your text is done
Insert/Change Clip Art Picture
  1. Double Clickinsert clip art on the slide
  2. Clickfind and type the object you are searching for
  3. Clickfind now
  4. Double click the picture of your choice

Insert/Change File Picture

  1. Click on insert clip art on the slide
  2. Press delete
  3. Clickinsert
  4. Clickpicture
  5. Clickfrom file
  6. Click drop down menu
  7. Select the I drive
  8. Doubleclickpicturefolder
  9. Doubleclick the picture of your choice

Animate Graphics and/or Text

  1. Clickslideshow on the standardtoolbar
  2. Clickcustomanimation
  3. Click the timingtab
  4. Click the item you want to animate
  5. Clickanimation
  6. Clickanimateonmouseclick
  7. Repeat steps 1-6 for every item you want to animate
  8. Click on the effectstab
  9. Click on the dropdownmenu below entry animation and sound
  10. Click the animation style you want
  11. Click on the dropdownmenu by sound
  12. Click the sound you want
  13. Click preview to watch your slide animation
  14. Repeat steps 8-13 for every item you want to add sound to
  15. Change as necessary

Insert a Voice Recording

  1. Clickinsert on the standardtoolbar
  2. Clickmovies and sound
  3. Clickrecordsound
  4. Record your speech by speaking clearly and slowly into the microphone
  5. Click stop
  6. Click play to listen to your speech
  7. Change as necessary

Insert Music

  1. Clickinsert on the standardtoolbar
  2. Clickpicture
  3. Clickclipart
  4. Click the soundtab
  5. Click a sound
  6. Clickplay to listen to the sound
  7. Clickstopplay to stop the sound
  8. Doubleclick the sound you wish to insert
  9. Clickslideshow on the standard tool bar
  10. Clickcustomanimation
  11. Click the timingtab
  12. Clickmedia
  13. Clickanimate
  14. Clickautomatically
  15. Click the playsettingstab
  16. Clickcontinueslideshow
  17. Clickmedia
  18. Click the up arrow until media is #1
  19. Clickplaysettings
  20. Click to place a checkmark beside hide while not playing
  21. Clickok

Slide Design and/or Color Scheme

  1. Clickformat on the standardtoolbar
  2. Clickapplydesign
  3. Click the design your desire (this will change all of your slide show)

AND/OR

  1. Clickformat on the standardtoolbar
  2. Clickslidecolorscheme
  3. Click to apply a color scheme to one slide or all slides

Slide Transitions

  1. Clickview on the standardtoolbar
  2. Clickslidesorter
  3. Click a slide
  4. Click on the commontaskstoolbar
  5. Click on the dropdownmenu for slidetransitioneffects
  6. Click a transition for your slide
  7. Click on the testpresetanimationdropdownmenu
  8. Click the transitionaction you want for your text
  9. Click the transitionbutton below each slide to view your transitions
  10. Click the sounddropdownmenu to select a sound between each slide transition.
  11. Click the slidetransitionbutton
  12. Click apply all

Preview

  1. Clickview on the standardtoolbar
  2. Clickslide show
  3. Watch and listen to your slide show, make adjustments as necessary for a consistent, smooth presentation
  4. Don’t forget to check the spelling

Print – teacher preview before printing

  1. Clickfile on the standard tool bar
  2. Clickprint
  3. Click the drop down menu beside “print what?”
  4. Select handouts (6 slides per page)
  5. Select black and white
