Big Ideas. Real-World Thinking.-Presented to a student in their senior year or an experienced staff member who actively celebrates the mission of Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSU, Mankato) to promote learning through effective undergraduate and graduate teaching, scholarship, and research to the state, the region and the global community.Please provide examples of how this person pairs bold aspirations with practical applications in accordance with the ideals of the University’s mission. The letter of recommendation should depict how this personhas made an impact at MSU, Mankato and how they have or could someday change the world.

Scott Hagebak Centennial Student Union Hall of Fame-Awarded to a student in their senior year or an experienced staff member who actively celebrates the mission of the Centennial Student Union (CSU)to welcome students, faculty, staff, and community members. Please address the student or staff member’s level of involvement in the CSU and give specific examples as to how the person has helped to create a vibrant community gather placein the letter of recommendation.

Commitment to Diversity-Given to a student who encourages a culture of understanding, belonging, and civility at MSU, Mankato. In the recommendation letter, please give specific examples to show how the student creates innovative opportunities that foster the development of leaders who are committed to civic engagement and social justice on a local or global scale.

Maverick Spirit-Awarded to a student who is willing to step-up and take risks for the betterment of the MSU, Mankato community. Please give specific examples showing how the nominee strives to make positive changes to the campus.

Outstanding Collegian-Presented to a student who is a leader of a Recognized Student Organization (RSO) and who represents the core values of MSU, Mankato, by exemplifying excellence in their organization and works toward the benefit of others. Please use the core values of the University, listed below, to give specific examples of how the nominee is an outstanding collegian.

Outstanding Recognized Student Organization Advisor- Given to an advisor of an RSO who has gone above and beyond in working with members of their organization. Please give specific examples of how the advisor promotes their organization, has made a difference in the organization and how the advisor acts as a mentor to the organization’s active members.

Outstanding Recognized Student Organization- Awarded to an RSO that is an active member of the MSU, Mankato campus. Please give specific examples of how the RSO is active on campus and represents the core values of MSU, Mankato listed below.

Rising Star-Awarded to a student who is new to MSU, Mankato (either a first year student or a transfer student in their first year at MSU, Mankato) who shows active involvement in an organized campus activity. Please give specific examples as to how the student is involved and how they are making a difference on campus.

Outstanding Campus Volunteer- Presented to a student who is involved in community service at MSU, Mankato. Please give specific examples regarding how the student demonstrates civic responsibility through service and inspires hope in those they serve and others around them. Be specific about how the student exhibits respect, caring, and compassion for members of the MSU, Mankato campus community. Please also be specific about the amount of time the student dedicates to service on campus.

Recognized Student Organization Exemplary Service Award- Presented to a Recognized Student Organization that is involved in community service within the greater Mankato community. Please give specific examples regarding how the student organization demonstrates civic responsibility through service and inspires hope in those they serve and others around them. Be specific about how the student organization exhibits respect, caring, and compassion for members of the MSU, Mankato campus and surrounding community. Please also be specific about the amount of time the student organization dedicates to service.

Davy Family Volunteer-of-the-Year Scholarship-Given to a student making satisfactory progress toward graduation who provides volunteer service to the greater Mankato community. The recipient is presented with a $1,000 scholarshipprovided by the Davy Family. The scholarship is divided equally between the fall and spring semester of the following academic year and requires applicants to fill out a separate nomination form that can be found at
