BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF LEWIS COUNTY, WASHINGTON

APPROVING AMENDMENTS TO THE LEWIS COUNTY COUNTYWIDE PLANNING POLICIES / )
) / RESOLUTION NO. 17-

WHEREAS, under the Growth Management Act, counties are required to prepare Countywide Planning Policies (CWPPs) to coordinate the plans of the various jurisdictions within the County; and

WHEREAS, Lewis County originally adopted its CWPPs in 1995, andhas met annually with the incorporated cities and towns since that time to discuss any needed changes to the document; and

WHEREAS, the Lewis CountyPlanned Growth Committee (PGC), the group tasked with amending the document, met two times in 2017to discuss potential changes to the population allocations within the CWPPs and change the planning horizon from 2030 to 2040; and

WHEREAS, at their last meeting of the year, on March 1, 2017, the PGC voted unanimously to forward a set of draft changes to the Lewis County Planning Commission for their consideration; and

WHEREAS,Lewis County Community Development sent a Notice of Intent to Adopt Amendment for the potential changes to the Washington State Department of Commerce onMarch 7, 2017; and

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Planning Commission conducted a workshop on the proposed revisions at their meeting of March 14, 2017; and

WHEREAS,on April 11, 2017, the Planning Commission held a duly noticed public hearing on the proposed CWPP revisions; and

WHEREAS,at their meeting of April 25, 2017, the Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of the proposed population changes, finding that the proposal reflected the needs of Lewis County, and were in the best interests of the public; and

WHEREAS, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners held a duly noticed public hearing on the CWPPs at their meeting of June 12, 2017;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners do hereby amend the Lewis County Countywide Planning Policies.
