Events are for carers who support someone living with a mental illness and whom reside in either the Newcastle, Port Stephens, Cessnock or Maitland council areas. Carers outside these areas will be placed on a waitlist initially and offered a vacancy closer to the event. All events are free.
Arafmi Illawarra – Responding to Risk of Suicide for Carers and Family members

This training aims to provide a guideline on how to identify a person at risk of suicide, how to approach the subject of suicide and ask relevant questions, how to support them to seek appropriate assistance and how to identify relevant resources through the use of a plan of action in response to their distress. Healthdirect Australia has been working with the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS) to develop a new service for carers in Australia.
