Jim Gentry

·  The individual program graduate surveys and Survey of Future Plans were made available this week. Lauri will compile the data gathered for the department outcomes report due this summer. If you have any questions, see Jim or Lauri.

·  Jim Gentry asked if anyone would be interested in taking his place on the Wellness Committee. Lee Ann Hagan said she would really like to do that.

·  Jim Gentry commented on the accreditation visit. He stated that the department did a great job preparing program outcomes and he appreciated everyone’s efforts. Your efforts were noted in an accreditation interview.

Brett Reid

·  Brett asked each department faculty to state which campus committees they participated in. The Social Science Department has participation on the following committees: Best Practices, Library, Retention, Faculty/Staff Development, Honors, HSHS Re-admissions, Academic Integrity, and the Safety Committees.

·  Brett asked those involved in Constitution Day (September 17) to be thinking of a topic and agenda. Lee Ann said she would get with Russ and Chris to begin the planning process.

·  Brett’s office hours and availability in the Aspen Building during the summer will be from 9:00 to 11:00 Monday through Friday.

·  The department presented Jim with a plaque of appreciation, as well as a t-shirt with the Social Science Department logo and a picture of department members (crafted but Jim Woods). Each member of the department signed the shirt.

·  The remainder of the meeting was spent welcoming our new department chair and chatting about the history of the Social Science Department and College History. It was a nice send off for Jim Gentry.

The next meeting of the Social Science Department will be held during in August during Fall Orientation Week.
