Secondary Workshop Model

COLDWATER / Continuing an ongoing conversation about reading and writing workshops at the secondary level, this month's session will focus on establishing the basics of a healthy reading workshop. Topics explored will include ways of making books available to students, monitoring student work and progress, and conferring with readers to monitor their progress. Both those who have taken part in previous sessions and those new to the conversation are welcome.
Digital Literacy - Optimize Your Operating Systems

PINE / Continuing from a session on web browser use, this will focus on how you can make your device’s operating system work for you. We will cover some terminology, file management, locating and customizing elements, and tips for common educator tasks. We will use Windows for demos but will address Mac, iOS, Android, and Chrome OS as well.

Classroom Learning Labs: Using technology to Model a Classroom Learning Lab

GRAND / Classroom Learning Labs are powerful tools for teachers to learn from teachers. With a substitute shortage and the need to stay in one’s classroom, check out this alternative to face-to-face CLLs. We will model a blended Virtual CLL for this session, and give participants the opportunity to build capacity to do this in a school, in a district, or open it to the county/state/world.
