Membership Committee:The Post 1st Vice Commander should serve as the Chairperson of this Committee. The Committee will meet quarterly, with specific sub-committeeassignmentsfor Retention, Renewals and Recruiting.

- Post Commander to make membership growth a priority discussion at each business meeting, stressing the importance of membership andthat it is everyone’s responsibility
- 1st Vice Commander to keep the post informed of progress by newsletters, emails and written reports at monthly business meetings

- “Close the back door” by helping members become as involved as they want to be. This is our #1objective.
- Personal phone calls and personal visits to current and new members to determine how and where they can become active
- Align a post member with similar interests (background or age) as a “buddy” or “sponsor” to follow up and assure new or transferred members are involved and integrated
- Encourage renewing online with a credit card at:
- Work both current members roster and expired member list
- Renewals: (Insert names of Primary Sub-Committee Members)
- Set goals and interim target dates for accomplishment
- 25% of goal by July 31, 2014
- 50% of goal by September 3, 2014
- 100% of goal by December 31, 2014
- Increase PUFL’s by 1... use the new discount plan

- Neighbor Night Out events at HOA’s

- Promote with the Post Honor/Color Guards
- Work the Department of Texas Headquarters 345 list…letters, emails and follow up phone calls
- Promote “Everyone Recruits One” and “Just Ask” slogans
- Use website effectively…check that it is updated on a regular basis
- Social Media…a proven way to attract younger Legionnaires
Legion Programs: Work with the Post Commander to ensure the Post is involved in Legion programs - Boys State, Oratorical, Boy Scouts, JROTC and School Awards are vital for meeting membership goals.
Public Relations:Keep the Post Public Relations Committee informed
- Ensure the Community knows what you are doing and why
- Ensure your Post members know what you are doing and why
Reward: Meet with the Post Commander and help institute presentation of earned awards during Post meetings to build excitement and success
- National Commanders annual award
- Texas Lone Start Recruiter hat pin
- Recognize all members annually for their continuous years of membership
- Develop competitions with other Post in your District
- Use citations and certificates found on the Certificate Maker CD
