JOB TITLE:Contemporary Worship Leader – Part Time

OVERVIEW:

As a Christian with faith in God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Contemporary Worship Leader shall have an abiding love and compassion for other human beings and an ability to communicate with others.

The Contemporary Worship Leader will:

  • have the poise necessary to be a leader of Living Word UMC and positive representative in the community
  • be part of church staff providing support toother ministries of the church
  • demonstrate the ability to work efficiently with volunteers of all ages (youth to adults)
  • multi-task while being attentive to details
  • be a self-starter with an ability to identify opportunities for improvements, to work independently and to set appropriate goals and priorities
  • be under the supervision of the Lead Pastor
  • help nurture a culture of community within the Worship Arts ministry and Living Word UMC
  • provide leadership and creativity in the area of music and worship ministries for Living Word UMC
  • provide creative counsel for other Living Word UMC ministries and organizations as they seek to effectively reach specific people-groups

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Contemporary Worship Leader will:

  • plan, participate, and lead the Sunday morning contemporary worship service
  • recruit, audition, and schedule volunteer musicians/singers
  • plan, participate, and lead rehearsals for the contemporary worship team
  • build and load charts, MP3s and other necessary preparation materials into Planning Center for scheduled band members
  • have ability/knowledge to create loops and click tracks for Worship Team using programs such as: Ableton Live, Pro Tools, or Mainstage
  • regularly interact with the pastors, and church staff in the intentional planning for contemporary worship; this includes planning, participating, evaluating and budgeting
  • be familiar with all facets of Multimedia ministries including sound reinforcement, production lighting, and video production
  • stay current on creative worship and look for opportunities to use this information to more effectively communicate the Gospel with the community and Living Word UMC family
  • fill other supportive roles as assigned by the Lead Pastor

SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music and/or Ministry preferred but not required
  • Strong background experience in managing a worship team
  • Exemplary vocal and instrumental musicianship (guitar and/or piano)
  • Competent in contemporary musical styles
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in English
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills

GENERAL:

  • To be paid hourly (10-15 hours per week)
  • Will be paid on Fridays, every other week
  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications
