Reminders/Announcements
●Please be sure to place all money sent to school in an envelope marked with your child’s name, the amount of the money you are sending, and the purpose for the funds.
●Please check your child’s backpack and folder daily for important information and their Daily Commitment Calendar.
●Please make sure your child has an extra set of clothes (shirt, pants, socks, and underwear). Please make sure that your child’s name is labeled inside all of their clothes.

Theme 2: My Family and Friends
We just started week 1:
★The first week focuses on families. Focus on letters F, f, M, m, T, t and C, c.
★The second week focuses on families and homes. Focus on the letters H, h, N, n, and O, o
★The third week focuses on friends and pets. Focus on the letters F, f, J, j, P, p, E, e, and R, r.
★The fourth week. focuses on community. Focus on letters S, s, K, k, and I, i. / Suggestions to do at HOME
❖Practice identifying the letters of their names
❖Have your child count to 20.
❖When you feel overwhelmed or your child does, remind each other to use one of the Calming Strategies we have learned: S. T. A. R. (Smile . Take a deep breath . And . Relax.), The Balloon, Belly Breathing, The Drain, and Pretzel. Do the calming strategy you choose 3 times in order to fully feel calm.
❖Encourage your child to write their first name, capitalizing the first letter in the name and writing the remaining letters in lowercase.
❖Help your child use the correct pencil grip.
❖Read to your child every night.
❖Have your child make a commitment at the beginning of each day. Give examples of what they can do throughout the day to keep that commitment. If your child is not keeping their commitment during the day, please stop them and remind them of their commitment and the importance of keeping it. At the end of the day, review examples of when they kept their commitment and a plan for tomorrow for the times they did not keep their commitment. Our commitments have been to use Our Big Voice and to Listen to Other’s Big Voices.
❖You and your child can go to your local Public Library and check out books and educational games and videos for free. / Reading/Language Arts
Language Arts:
Identify the letters in their name.
Identify and write the letters: C, c, F, f, M,m and T, t.
Comprehension:
Use a combination of drawing and developmentally appropriate writing to state information on a topic.
Connect individuals, events, and pieces of information in text to life experiences.
Retell a familiar story.
Answer Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How questions about a story.
Answer questions using a complete sentence.
Phonics:
-Identify the letters in their first name.
-Identify the letters C, c, F, f, M, m, and T, t.
-Identify the sound each letter makes.
-Identify words that begin with each letter sound.
Language:
●Use letter-like shapes, symbols, letters, and words to convey meaning
Speaking and listening:
-Follow agreed upon rules for discussions ( listening to others and taking turns, speaking about the topics and texts being discussed )
-Speak audibly and express thoughts, feelings, and ideas clearly.
-Speak using complete sentences.
-Focus on details in the illustrations and text.
Math:
-Verbally count to 10 by ones and then develop rote counting to 20 by ones.
-Match like 2-dimensional shapes and correctly name the shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size.
-Group the shapes by like attributes or objects such as length or weight.
-Group the shapes by like attributes and distinguish between examples and non-examples of various 2-dimensional shapes.
-Identify and write the numbers 0-10.
