7th Grade RISE-Students will begin working on either their Rube Goldberg or Independent Study Projects next week. We will also be continuing our Extempore' curriculum which includes a daily quote (all from Italians), Yogi-isms (Yogi Berra's wacky use of the English language), and Ernie Eagle Words (advanced vocabulary). We will begin the Non Capisco lesson which means I don't understand in the Italian language. This lesson is the beginning of our focus on the Italian language itself. We will begin withLearn Italian: 150 Italian Phrases for Beginnners. In our Conflicts Curriculum next week our lesson is about conflicting information. The enduring understanding is-Understanding the positive and negative sides of conflicts may help people make better choices. The guiding questions for this lesson are-What is a random sample? How can data in a survey be skewed?

7th Grade Math: We will begin a unit on solving multiple step equations and inequalities next week. Students will be able to solve 2-step equations and multi-step equations.

Pre Algebra: We will continue the unit on multiple step equations and inequalities next week. Students will be able to solve multiple step equations with variables on both sides. There will be a quiz on Friday over solving equations.

Science: This week we will wrap up our cells unit by reviewing for a test. Blue day tests will be Friday 1/15. Gold day tests will be Tuesday 1/19. Students should be able to describe the cell theory, identify and describe the functions a cell and its parts. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

6th/7th/8th Physical Education & Health: Students completed their third round of fitness testing this week and began their racket Sports unit. This unit includes: Badminton, Pickle-ball, and Table Tennis. Please remind students to bring clothes and tennis shoes for participation. 7th Grade Reading: We have started our nonfiction unit and will be continuing it this week. Reading logs are due January 19th. All 7th grade classes meet on Gold day and we will visit the library every Gold Wednesday, in order to take AR tests and check out/renew books. 7th and 8th Grade Vocal

This week in vocal music, students have been practicing sight-singing. Students have looked at examples in the key of C Major that include steps and intervals of thirds and fifths. Students have also begun reading several pieces of choral musicCommunication Arts:

Spelling Lesson 8 will begin Monday for B1 with the test on Friday. We will also be working on using details from text to support constructed response answers and editing. Reminder: All homework assignments that receive a grade below a C may be redone for half credit. Assignments must be asked for that day and are due the next class time. Encourage your student to take advantage of this opportunity if needed.
