HOSPITALITY ADMINISTRATIONUNIFORM POLICY
The following is the required uniform to be worn by ALL hospitality students during lab classes. (Casual business attire should be worn for all other Hospitality classes). Students without the proper uniform will NOT be allowed in the lab. Uniforms must be clean and neat at the start of each class or function. Locker rooms have been provided to change in to uniforms prior class. To comply with food safety standards, students should bring uniform and change in lockers room, not wear the uniform from home or another class.
- White chef’s hat (Available at Ivy Tech Bookstore)
- Students in 100 level lab classes will wear the short/flat cloth hat
- Students in 200 level lab classes (that have completed all 100 level lab classes) will wear the 9” tall mesh toque available in the bookstore.
- Neckerchief w/Slide (Available at Ivy Tech Bookstore)
- Students in 100 level lab classes will wear the BLACK & WHITE CHECKED neckerchief w/slide.
- Students in 200 level lab classes (that have completed all 100 level lab classes) will wear the DARK GREEN neckerchief w/slide.
- White chef’s coat (plastic buttons) with Ivy Tech logo embroidered on left front
of jacket (Available at Ivy Tech Bookstore-Please allow two weeks for delivery)
If alternate source for jacket is used it MUST be the same style of jacket and the logo Must be the approved Ivy Tech logo.
- Student Name: Students can wear their Ivy Tech student photo ID attached to the
Front of their chef jacket with an alligator clip (clips available in Ivy Tech Bookstore) or can have their name embroidered on the right side of the jacket. (The Uniform House can embroider the name on the jacket for a small charge).
The color of the embroidery must be the same green color as the logo and the same font style as the logo. The bookstore does not do embroidery of names on jackets.
The Uniform House is located at 1927 N. Capitol (just north of MethodistHospital)
- Student chef pants: Only approved BLACK & WHITE CHECKED Hounds tooth
Chef’s pants are acceptable (Available from the Ivy Tech Bookstore)
- White Bib Apron: (Available from Ivy Tech Bookstore)
- Shoes should be of firm black leather with slip resistant soles. Clogs, sneakers, high heels, and open toe shoes are not allowed. Socks should be worn, and no hosiery is allowed.
- Hair should be neatly maintained, clean, and under control at all times. Long hair should be pinned up and worn under the chef’s hat. Beard snoots should be worn over beards.
- Jewelry is NOT permitted, except for wedding bands.
- Fingernails must be trimmed and polish can NOT be worn while in lab classes, NO FALSE NAILS ALLOWED.
TO INSURE CONSISTENCY, ALL CHEF JACKETS, HATS, NECKERCHIEFS AND SLIDES MUST BE PURCHASED THROUGH THE IVY TECH BOOKSTORE.
