Advice and Support at Keele (ASK) will advise in accordance with the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner’s Code of Standards and with UKCISA’s Code of Ethics (the Council for International Student Affairs).

General immigration enquiries.

Work undertaken is carried out to competence levels appropriate to each advisor’s training, competence and experience. The advice and support that ASK delivers is free, confidential, non-judgemental and impartial. Please note that we do not work with asylum casework.

When advisors identify that the case is outside their training, experience or competence, they will help clients to identify practitioners competent to provide advice services. ASK advisors will signpost you to the website which lists advisors who are members of professional bodies, registered with the Commissioner and hold a certificate, or we will signpost you to the UKCISA student help line. When referring a case to a third party we will only do so with you express permission and will write to inform you of the details involved with this including information we have about any costs that you may have to pay, however you should also clarify the cost implications of any work you are asking them to undertake on your behalf.

Visa Checking Service.

ASK staff will check through your visa application before you submit it to the UKVI. It is your responsibility to complete and submit your application.

Please ensure you allow enough time for an appointment for a visa check, it is a lengthy process, if you do not allow sufficient time to complete your application and want to see an advisor, we will only be able to offer guidance, not a full checking service.

Assistance is provided in good faith and is based on our understanding of the procedures relating to the points based immigration system. However, this process often changes. We endeavour to keep up to date with immigration rules and processes and offer guidance based in good faith based on our training, competence and experience.
