College Skills – COL 103
Final Exam

PART 1 – COL 103 Booklet

Congratulations!! You have survived your classes this semester. Think how much wiser you are about college life now than you were just a few months ago. Wouldn’t it be great if next semester’s classes could start out knowing what you know now? With that thought in mind, for your exam, I’d like for you to leave a legacy of your wisdom to next semester’s classes.

In booklet form (printed) or PowerPoint (uploaded on BlackBoard), please share 10 important pieces of advice about adjusting to college life. Your advice can be about anything we have covered in College Skills this semester. Review your notes, assignments, journals, and projects for ideas. Your booklets should cover a variety of information and topics. Review the objectives of the course on your syllabus for possible ideas.

Follow these basic guidelines:

·  Use Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint or Microsoft Publisher

·  Make a title page for your booklet. Be creative use pictures and graphics. Your title might be something like the following:

Ten things I wish I’d known about college

o  Take it from Me

·  Your book should have a short introduction page. Speak directly to next semester’s classes. You might welcome them to college and/or make some encouraging remarks. The introduction should be 100-150 words.

·  Offer 10 specific pieces of advice that you think will make college life easier for next semester’s freshmen. Type each piece of advice so that it stands out (bold, a different font, a different size, or WordArt). Then, explain your advice, sharing your own experience if you wish. Think back to how the beginning of each chapter had a piece of advice to be gained from the story. Each piece of advice and its explanation should be 150-200 words. Be creative with each page (pictures, creative graphics). Remember to connect to your chapter information.

·  Conclude with your remarks about how it all fits together and some final pieces of advice. The conclusion should be 100-150 words.

·  Make the booklet visually appealing with the use of any graphics you can insert.

·  NO misspelled words!

·  Correct grammar use! Double check your grammar and sentence construction!

·  You will be leaving your book with me to share with next semester’s class, so it will be up to you if your name is included in the printed version.

PART 2 – Presentation

Each student will share their booklet with the class on exam day.
