SHOW INFORMATION 2
This year’s show is being held at the Church Hill Theatre - Morningside Rd, Edinburgh EH10 4DR.
Performance dates and times are as follows:-
Tue 6 June 2017 – 7pm – 9pm Performance
Wed 7 June 2017 – 7pm – 9pm Performance
REHEARSALS
Please see the Rehearsal Grid –sent as a separate document (also on my website) giving details of dates, times and places for rehearsals and performances – if unsure please check with myself so that your child does not turn up at the wrong rehearsal. I am aware that we all lead busy lives and so I keep rehearsals to a minimum. However, all these rehearsals are important for everyone involved. Pupils are working with partners, other classes and need to learn how the dance works when all involved are brought together. When a child is absent it is very disrupting and very difficult for other children to dance with ‘Mr Nobody’ instead of their partner or to leave a space where someone is meant to be etc - please consider carefully and let me know if your child cannot attend.
Note 1. Pupils should be ready to start at the times stated (but please don’t arrive too early) – arrive in a track suit with leotards underneath, hair in a bun. Leave outdoor coats and shoes with parents. Bring a snack, water to drink and something to amuse when not dancing. NO chocolate or fizzy drinks. All pupils will be given two name tags – one to be worn at all rehearsals and brought to performances. The tag should be attached to clothing or gripped in the hair (not in hair for performance nights) so that it is clearly visible. For safety reasons it should not be worn as a necklace. The second is to hang on their costume hanger. Parents will be asked to sign their children in and out of rehearsals and shows. This is for the safety of the children so please be patient and do not just take your child away without telling one of the helpers and signing out.
Mon 5th June:
Note 2. This is the only opportunity for pupils to learn how to get on and off stage and placing when on stage. It is a Dress rehearsal for both Casts 1 & 2 so we have a lot to get through. Hair in a bun if time allows but make-up isn’t essential at the expense of being late. Bring all costumes. Exception Pre-School & Prep: day clothes and ballet shoes.
Although every effort will be made to keep to the times given, rehearsals can be unpredictable and so I appreciate your understanding should students not finish at the exact time stated. However, if one group runs late please don’t assume that the rest of the rehearsal will also run late as this hopefully, will not be the case.
Remember each child depends on the other children to be present in order to have a complete rehearsal and successful show.
Persons who are not officially helping will not be allowed in to rehearsals or backstage at the theatre. All helpers should wear their security name tag.
COSTUMES – NAME EVERYTHING
Most costumes have now been handed out. I will send Invoices via email.
Tutu net should be steamed or carefully ironed and tutus should be hung upside down. Adjust shoulder straps to fit and NAME EVERYTHING clearly.
All pupils should bring their costume and the following to the theatre: a dressing gown (not an onesie), flesh colour pants, ballet leotard, ballet socks (Pre-School – G1), ballet tights (G2 and above). All dance shoes. Primary & Grade 1 Tap shoes should have button with elastic fastenings – this is a quick change so please no laces.
Pupils dancing every night may leave their costumes at the theatre from Mon 5 Jun. Pupils dancing one night will take their costumes home after the Monday rehearsal and their show night. Please check bags when home to make sure you do not have anyone else’s costume or part thereof.
NB It may not be possible to order another costume before the show so please keep it safe and clean until then.
NAME EVERYTHING – including everyday clothing.
SHOW NIGHTS
Note 3. Pre-School pupils may be collected at the Interval (8pm approx.) or stay backstage to be involved in the Finale. It is against theatre Safety Regulations to allow them to sit on a knee to watch Act 2 and judging from ticket requests I don’t think there will be enough seats left for me to give them a ticket. Let me know by 26 May when you will be collecting.
Bring something to entertain, a snack and water for when not dancing. No chocolate or fizzy drinks.
Make-up: Younger children should wear a light foundation and blusher. Highlight eyes and mascara if pos. A light rose/red lipstick – bring lipstick (named) to theatre.
Hair in a bun – as per rehearsals unless otherwise informed. Please bring extra Kirby grips for head dresses.
Please do make-up and hair before arriving at the theatre.
No nail varnish, transfers, jewellery incl earrings (cover with micropore if sleepers needed)
No persons will be allowed in to the auditorium without the relevant ticket.
NO photographing or video recording is permitted during performances.
The show is being recorded and DVDs may be ordered at the show.
Note 4. Please bring all costumes to class Tue 13- Sat 17 Jun for photo shoot. Hair in a bun. Parents may come in at the start to get a group photo. Please do not leave borrowed costumes at the theatre I will collect them this week. Please wash before returning (if costume allows).
HELPERS POSTER
Your help is much appreciated and the Helpers Poster will be displayed at class. Please enter your name wherever you can lend a hand. A security pass will be given to all helpers. If you are a listed helper and have not been given your pass you can collect it at the rehearsal.
NO PARENTS ARE ALLOWED BACKSTAGE OR IN TO WATCH REHEARSALS UNLESS HELPING
A DESIGNATED PERSON WILL ESCORT YOUR CHILD TO HER DRESSING ROOM - PLEASE DO NOT EXPECT TO BE ALLOWED IN DRESSING ROOMS UNLESS HELPING OR ASKED TO DO SO
