Hello! August 2013

My name is Ms. Russoniello (some of you may remember me as Mrs. Sheplock) and I want to welcome you to 1st grade! During this school year, we will work, play, and make a lot of new friends. There may be some friends you know from kindergarten or your neighborhood, but there will also be new faces in our classroom.

I hope you have had a fun and enjoyable summer. I’ve been swimming, reading, going to baseball games and having lots of fun in the sun! I have also been busy getting our classroom ready for the new school year!

There are so many exciting things planned for this coming year. First grade is a big learning year! Two important goals we will be working on are fostering independence during work time as well as creating responsibility for one’s own work and actions. We have a busy year ahead of us. Put your thinking caps on and get ready for a very fun-filled year!

Our day will begin at 9:00 A.M. and dismissal will be at 3:40 P.M. Please be sure to know what bus you ride. If you are being picked up, be sure to know where to meet your parent. We will have snack daily, but you will only need to bring a juice each day. During the first week of school, I will be sending home additional information about the many exciting things going on in room 7, along with a list of the daily “specials” we will have.

I am very anxious for September to arrive so that we can begin our exciting and challenging school year together. To be prepared and ready for a fun and productive school year, you will need to do some summer shopping! Check out the sale sheets for ALL of the items below:

□ LOTS of pencils / □ ONE (1) Large T-SHIRT ( art smock)
□ LOTS of erasers / □ ONE (1) box of colored pencils
□ ONE (1) pencil zipper pouch / □ ONE (1) pencil sharpener with a cover
□ SIX (6) Elmer’s glue sticks / □ BACK pack (for easy carrying)
□ ONE (1) pair safety scissors / □ TWO (2) Boxes of tissues (classroom donation)
□ ONE (1) box of 16 count crayons / □ ONE (1) Container of Lysol/Clorox wipes
