PROPOSED: C. Zone Representation
3.All athlete substitutions must be submitted to the provincial host by 4 pm on the Wednesday prior to provincials. No additions or changes may be made after this date. Scratches after this date will be charged the entry fee and will be assessed the No-Show fee of $50. Schools may appeal the No-Show fee by submitting their rationale to their Zone Secretary, who will forward them to the ASAA. The Executive Director will have the discretion to waive the No-Show fee.
Rationale:
1. Consequences for scratches need to be published in the Handbook.
2. Athletes need to be held accountable for their commitment to compete at Provincials. Currently, they can scratch without providing a reason and are only charged the entry fee. $15 is not a deterrent.
3. Athletes will be allowed to submit a written appeal and their No-Show fee may be waived, at the discretion of the Executive Director. This is fair for those with injuries and other legitimate reasons.
