OUTLINE:
Concerned with the welding procedures used to fabricate metal parts and repair products such as machine parts, frames, and construction equipment. Includes the treatment of metal parts and components by brazing, forging, soldering, etc.

3. Metallic and Tungsten Gas Welding· Weld aluminum or aluminum alloy with GMAW (MIG) equipment
· Weld aluminum or aluminum allow with DTAW (TIG) equipment

4. Metallic Arc Welding

· Weld according to specifications
· Weld butt joints on heavy carbon steel sheet and plate in the flat position
· Perform fillet welds on carbon steel in the flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead positions
· Perform carbon steel pipe joints
· Weld butt joints on heat and corrosion resistant ferrous alloys
· Surface treat various metals
· Weld butt joints on gray iron castings
· Perform electric arc cutting
· Weld butt joints on aluminum and alloy plate
5. General Tasks
· Fill machine hoppers with powdered or liquid flux
· Connect hoses to gas supply tanks or cables to electrical power supply
· Convey workpieces, tools, jigs and supplies to the worksite
· Prepare work pieces for welding by cleaning with wire brush, solvents or portable grinder
· Brush flux along seams of workpiece
· Reheat workpiece by placing into furnace for a specified time
· Tag or mark finished pieces
· Clean welding equipment, pick up scraps and sweep work area
· Practice and demonstrate safety precautions of the trade
