Position Purpose: / The role of the Emergency Ward Clerk is to provide quality customer-focused care to the patients, Emergency Department staff and all internal and external customers to the Emergency Department. The clerk will work within the core values of the Mercy Health. The Emergency Ward Clerk will assist in the co-ordination of activities in the Emergency Department and is responsible for providing clerical, admission processing, typing word processing and reception assistance to the Unit. The role of the Emergency Ward Clerk is to provide clerical support working a rotating roster ensuring coverage for an area which functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Qualifications & Requirements: / Recent experience as a ward clerk within a health setting preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent telephone manner
Excellent organisational skills
Proven work processing skills
Fast accurate typing
Proven ability to work successfully in a multi-disciplinary team
Flexible and adaptable approach
Ability to be self directed and maintain progress in multiple activities at the same time.
