This role will play a key role in helping Save the Children meet its ambitious digital goals.

Position within organisation:

The post of Senior Digital Marketing Manager is based in the Brand & Communications (B&C) Department.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the post is to lead the Digital Marketing Executives and Digital Analyst in the implementation of the 2015 digital transformation project.

The role will oversee strategic development and delivery of paid, owned and earned digital marketing activity including email, mobile, display, social media, ppc and SEO.

Key accountabilities

  1. Lead and develop the digital marketing executives and digital analyst to maximise our digital marketing activity for Save the Children.
  1. Drive the delivery of our day to day digital marketing activity – working with the Marketing, Fundraising and Advocacy Departments, where relevant – including email, PPC, mobile, social media and display campaigns.
  1. Be a brand champion and make sure it is effectively delivered online ensuring synchronisation with PR and offline marketing efforts.
  1. Collaborate effectively with other managers to establish a strong organisation-wide culture of effective digital communications, supported with effective cross-team ways-of-working.
  1. Working with the digital analyst, make sure that all of our digital marketing activity is being effectively tracked and analysed, identifying gaps in performance and opportunities to maximise our digital marketing activity.
  1. Lead strategic relationships with creative and media agencies, where relevant, ensuring quality outputs, evaluation and value for money across all campaigns.

Team management:

  1. Supporting and managing the team’s project work and schedule through regular 121s.
  1. Develop annual work plans and manage annual appraisals.
  1. Assessing team’s professional development needs.
  1. Delegate work to other team members as appropriate.

Administration and other:

  1. Act up for Head of Digital Marketing as required.
  1. Occasionally work out of hours during emergencies or periods of peak media activity.
  1. Keep clean and accessible records for project documentation and online account details.
  1. Keep up to date with latest digital developments and their application in the work of Save the Children.

Person specification

This is a management role within the brand and communications department. The successful candidate must have extensive digital marketing experience and be technically capable. They should also display Save the Children's values and competencies as follows:

Internal: Wide range of contact across all departments for digital marketing planning, support and sharing the lessons of evaluation.

External: Agencies/freelancers/consultants providing specialist input or services.

Child Protection

Child Safeguarding Level 2 - the post will have direct access to children or to sensitive data on children, on a frequent or intensive basis. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) enhanced check or equivalent overseas police check will be obtained for employees at this level. As the post is covered by the Exceptions Order 1975 to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, any spent or unspent criminal convictions will be considered when considering suitability for the role.
