Job Summary:

The Senior RC Engineer will work with multi-functional teams. The Senior RC engineer serves in a consultative capacity on Belkin product Safety and regulatory compliance with national and international regulatory requirements. He or she must think analytically, interact with product and program test labs, local regulatory authorities and perform multi tasks effectively.

The candidate must be able to read electronic schematics, review layouts for creepage and clearances and be familiar with various Safety standards (domestic and international), test equipment including oscilloscopes, multi-meters, current meters, power supplies, etc.

Specific Responsibilities:

·  Assist in development of corporate policy and procedures for product safety and regulatory requirements

·  Evaluate and interpret US and International regulations and standards with the objective of making Belkin product compliant and managing risk with respect to product requirements.

·  Provide guidance to senior management regarding corporate compliance matters where product safety becomes an issue.

·  Provide technical direction and communication across engineering, product and program management, ODM and CM’s, resulting in compliance practices/procedures.

·  Guide product development teams on product safety and regulatory compliance issues.

·  Assist in the development of tools and processes to enable other engineering teams to work with a reasonable level of autonomy.

·  Develop methodology and processes for product test plans, ensuring effective validation testing for compliance to applicable safety & regulatory requirements.

·  Conduct or assist in internal investigations and analysis of potential non-compliant products

. Implement and / or assist in development of corrective actions as necessary. Further guide post incident investigation and problem resolution, advice on risk exposures, follow up with action plans when warranted.

Support NPI and Sustaining Regulatory Engineers in certifying new and maintaining current certification status of production product.

·  Monitor testing at 3rd party test and certification labs.

·  Collect, review and release RC test plans, reports, and certificates.

·  Ensure comply with domestic and international RC regulations.

·  Maintain international RC Standards Library.

·  Assist in RC program and product management; track budget, invoices, schedule, etc.

·  Travel up to 10% as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

·  Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electrical, mechanical or other relevant degrees.

·  Minimum of 10 years of International Regulatory Compliance experience in a testing lab or consumer electronics engineering development environment.

·  Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.

·  Position requires hands-on experience on Product Safety testing as primary, but further experience in EMC / EMI is highly desirable. Specific and further understanding of global consumer electronics Product Safety standards such as UL, IEC Product Safety related standards, FCC, CE, CISPR, ELV, R&TTE, etc. is a must.

·  Previous experience conducting or facilitating Safety tests per UL1283, UL1310, UL506, UL60950, UL/EN60601-1,-2, EN 61010, UL 916 and understanding of different domestic and international plug standards requirements in highly desirable.

·  Understanding of environmental / sustainability requirements such as Prop 65, RoHS, Reach, Energy efficiency etc. is preferred.

·  Exposure and working knowledge of wireless technologies such as WIFI and Bluetooth along with an understanding of networking systems is highly desirable.

·  Candidate must have knowledge of local certification processes and must be able to interact with local certification authorities.

·  Experience with overseas ODMs a plus but not a must.

·  Candidate must be able to write technical documents clearly and concisely.
