West Iredell Ruritan Club Scholarship – NOW AVAILABLE!!!

The West Iredell Ruritan Club Scholarship is now available in the Guidance Office. All completed applications must be turned into Guidance by 3:15 p.m. on February 1, 2012.

E.R. & Lillian B. Dimmette Scholarship Fund

Applications are now available on line at www.fftc.org Please submit your applications to Mrs. Ratchford in the Guidance Office by February 1, 2012. Two students can be nominated by our county who meet the criteria and eligibility requirements for the scholarship. For more information, please see Mrs. Ratchford in Guidance.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Scholarship

Nu Alpha Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is a service-oriented professional organization and serves the North Carolina counties of Alexander, Catawba, Iredell and Wilkes. The scholarship will be awarded to a qualified African-American female with a minimum grade point average of a 2.8. The recipient must attend a college or university in North Carolina. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline February 29, 2012.

2012 “People Helping People” Scholarship – State Employees’ Credit Union

The “People Helping People” Scholarship will be awarded to a senior who will attend one of the 16 public universities in North Carolina. The scholarship is valued at $10,000 (payable $1,250 per semester). The WIHS Scholarship Committee will select one senior to receive this scholarship. You must complete the application and return to the Guidance Office by 3:15 p.m. on Friday, April 20. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

SEANC Scholarship Program

The State Employees Association of North Carolina Scholarship Program is for active members, their spouses and their dependents. Scholarship applications are available at www.seanc.org under Member Benefits. The scholarship application consists of three categories: Financial, Merit and Member Only. Drum-Wilkinson Educational Scholarship

The Drum-Wilkinson Educational Foundation (DWEF) plans to award a minimum of three scholarships with amount varying from $250 to $1000 for the 2012-2013 academic year. An applicant must be a legal American citizen and complete an application in accordance with the organization’s Guide and Requirements. Scholarships are awarded without regard to age, race, religion, sexual gender, marital status, or relationship to the Drum-Wilkinson families. There is no application fee. Scholarship awards are announced to chosen recipients, DWEF’s newsletter, and print news media in which DWEF solicits applications. A copy of the 2012 DWEF APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS & GUIDE is available to interested students. To receive an application & guide: Place a #10 (4 ½” x 10 ½”) envelope addressed to the applicant with one first-class ($.44) stamp affixed inside another #10 envelope. Elon College – Teaching Scholarship

Elon University will offer a modified Teaching Fellows Program for the incoming freshman – Fall 2012. There program includes a semester-long study abroad experience in Costa Rica or London, winter term courses and opportunities for enrichment in cultural events, seminars and tutoring services. Our Family for Families First Foundation

Each year the Our Family for Families First Foundation gives four-year scholarships to high school seniors who have a parent who is an active-duty military service. The scholarship application is available online at www.ourfamilyfoundation.org Scholarship applications must be submitted by Thursday, February 16, 2012.

Ronald McDonald’s House Charities

The Ronald McDonald House Charities U.S. Scholarship Program is available to graduating high school seniors. The RMHC scholarship program seeks to invest in students who are exemplary role models in their communities and have the initiative to fulfill their educational goals. Emmaline Ellison Shella Memorial Scholarship

The family of Emmaline Stella has a created a scholarship to Catawba Valley Community College for a high school senior that is a resident of Statesville, NC. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline is February 29, 2012.

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program

Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants will offer their scholarship program again this year. The deadline is June 15, 2012. Students will submit an essay on the topic that appears on the scholarship page at http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm Full details are available on the website.

Community Foundation of Western North Carolina

The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina offers a number of scholarships to graduating seniors. The scholarships have varying deadlines. Some scholarships may consider financial need; academic achievement or potential; active participation in school, community, and work; as well as strong moral character. North Carolina Hispanic College Scholarship

The North Carolina Hispanic College Fund established by the NC Society of Hispanic Professionals awards annual scholarships, worth between $500 and $2500. Winners of a N.C. Hispanic College Fund scholarship must enroll or be enrolled in a degree program at a community college or a 2- or 4- year college/university and be committed to public service and community development. Education Scholarship – African American Males

The CALL ME MISTER Program is a scholarship for African-American males who are interested in pursuing a degree in education. The program is for students interested in attending South Carolina State University, Benedict College, Chaflin University, and Morris College. Ron Brown Scholar Program

The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify students who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, show exceptional leadership potential and make an impact on their communities through service to others. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, Black or African American and current high school seniors at the time of their application. VMI Scholarship

The Virginia Military Institute offers full and partial scholarships to students who are academically talented and intellectually curious with a well-balanced high school record that includes leadership roles. KFC Colonel’s Scholarship

KFC Colonel’s Scholars is looking for high school seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel’s Scholarships Program. Awards are up to $20,000 for tuition, fees, textbooks room and board. Students must a minimum grade point average of 2.75 and demonstration financial need. The program is accepting online applications December 1, 2011 – February 8, 2012 at www.kfcscholars.org

NCSU Education Scholarship Program

The College of Education at North Carolina State University offers a limited number of scholarships to incoming students based on merit and/or need. Students are encouraged to apply for admission to NCSU early since they must be accepted to be invited to apply for the scholarship. Competitive students who have been admitted to the College of Education by January 30, 2012, will be invited to apply for a scholarship. East Tennessee State University – Honors Program

Twenty-two freshmen are selected as University Honors Scholars each year. A special application is required and due on January 31, 2012 for admission for fall 2012. To request an application, please go www.etsu.edu/honors/university/application.asp

Qualified Children of North Carolina Veterans

Students must have a Veteran parent(s) who were residents of North Carolina when they entered military service. You may be eligible for a scholarship from the state of North Carolina to attend an approved in-state university, community college or technical institute. Please visit www.doa.nc.gov/vets/locations to find your local Division of Veteran Affairs Service Office. The deadline is March 1, 2012.

National Co-op Scholarship Program

WACE announces its Tenth Annual National Co-op Scholarship Program. As the largest independently sponsored merit co-op scholarship program in the United States, WACE will award 155 merit co-op scholarships of $6,000 each. The deadline to apply is February 15, 2012. North Carolina State USBC Association Inc. Youth Scholarship

This scholarship is provided by the North Carolina State United States Bowling Congress Association, Inc. (NCS USBCA) – a non-profit organization. The scholarship is worth $1,500. The student must be a current member of the NCS USBCA and bowling in a certified USBC North Carolina youth league. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2012. Johnson & Wales University FFA Scholarships

As a member of a national student organization you are eligible for a National Student Organizations (NSO) Scholarship. By completing the admission application and indicating your membership, not only will you be applying for admission to Johnson & Wales University, you will also be applying for our NSO Scholarship program and all its benefits. Kenneth N. Houston Memorial Scholarships

The Catawba Valley Chapter of Professional Construction Estimators of American (PCEA) will award scholarships to deserving high school seniors preparing to enter construction related careers. The deadline is April 27, 2012. Applications are available in Guidance.

B. Davis Scholarship

This scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors. To apply, you will need to write an essay of less than 1000 words on “How your education has contributed to who you are today or how it will affect who you will become. The deadline is May 28, 2012. Michael A. Demayo Scholarship

The law offices of Michael A. Demayo offers scholarships to students who complete the application process and submit the best presentation on the prevention of underage drinking and driving. JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest

This contest is an opportunity for you to

write an essay less than 1,000 words that demonstrates political courage such as that described by

Create A Greeting Card Scholarship Contest

That’s right…create a greeting card. Students must submit a unique photo, piece of artwork or computer graphic for the front of a greeting card. NCHSAA Scholarships

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association offers several scholarships. The Charlie Adams Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a senior female participating on a varsity cross-country team and to a senior male participating on a varsity wrestling team. Gainey Student Award is awarded to one senior male student athlete participating on a varsity baseball team. The Clary Student Medal Award is awarded to one male and one female athlete. SunTrust Off to College Scholarship

High school seniors can enter for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship for their education expenses at a college, university or trade (career) school. Gates Millennium Scholars

The Gates Millennium Scholars program is a renewable, need-based, merit scholarship and provides financial support throughout the Scholar’s undergraduate career. The scholarship is aimed at African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Pacific Islander American and Hispanic American students. The minimum grade point average is a 3.3 unweighted. High School Innovator of the Year and Lead With Your Heart Scholarships

Catawba College Teaching Scholarship

Catawba College in Salisbury offers the West Teaching Scholarship. The scholarship is for North Carolina residents pursing a degree in Education. It is a valued up to $15,000.
