HIGH-SPEED ROLLING DOORS

PART 1 – GENERAL

1.01 SECTION INCLUDES

  1. High-speed roll up doors.
  2. Wiring from electric circuit disconnect to operator to control station.

1.04 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. Electrical motor operated unit with manual override in case of power failure.

1.05 SUBMITTALS

  1. Submit the following:
  2. Shop Drawings: Indicate pertinent dimensioning, anchorage methods, hardware locations and installation details.
  3. Product Data: Provide general construction, component connections and details, electrical equipment and operation instructions.
  4. Samples: Submit color samples of door panels for selection by owner.
  5. Manufacturer's Installation: Indicate installation sequence and procedures, adjustment and alignment procedures.

1.06 REGULARTORY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Electrical components UL listed.
  2. Electrical enclosure NEMA approved.

1.07 QUALITY ASSURANCE

  1. Furnish high-speed roll doors and all components and accessories by one manufacturer.

1.08 FIELD MEASUREMENTS

  1. Verify field measurements are as indicated on shop drawings.

1.09 COORDINATION

  1. Coordinate the work with installation of electric power and locations and sizes of conduit.

1.10 WARRANTY

  1. One year parts and labor limited warranty.
  2. No springs allowed.

PART 2 – PRODUCTS

2.01 PRODUCTS

  1. Albany Door Systems Therma Seriesof high speed industrial doors.
  2. No substitutions permitted.

2.02 MATERIALS

  1. Door Panel:
  1. 22 ounce composite vinyl panel sections hot welded with 2 layers of double reflective, heavy duty polyethylene air pocketed insulation.
  2. Standard color is Blue, optional colors available.
  1. Side Frames and Head Member:
  2. Fully bolt together. All structural materials to be made of extruded aluminum or galvanized steel.
  3. Front columns to be clear anodized finished.
  4. Front column wall thickness to be a minimum of 0.08" to minimize damage if impacted.
  5. Side frames to have double weather seal. Seal must be on both the front and back side of the door panel.
  6. Head frame must be provided with full weather seal along the entire top of the door.
  7. Door must have no visible air gaps along the side or top of the door when the door panel is in the closed or down position.
  1. Drive System:
  2. Operator features shall be direct drive through hollowshaft gearbox to top roll, chain driven rotary cams limit switches and thermistor for thermal overload protection.
  1. Control Panel:
  2. MCC controller housed in anIP55 rated enclosure.
  3. Controls must include a Vector Control drive system capable of infinitely variable speed control in both the up and down directions and integrated plc for full programmability.
  4. All interior control panel components must be touch-safe (protected from high voltage when control panel cover plate is open). NO EXPOSED HIGH VOLTAGE CONTACTS.
  5. All door operational parameters must be set from the Graphical User Interface (GUI).
  6. Controller comes with factory set parameters, a 64 bit scrollable graphic/text display that shows functional information during normal operation and will advise if maintenance is required or of abnormal situations.
  7. Controls must be fully self diagnostic thru the GUI and provide corrective actions for error conditions.
  8. Door must be provided with electronic encoder. A proximity or rotary switch must be provided to accommodate the top position reference.
  9. Connections from the controller to the drive unit must be prewired from the factory with plug-and-play capabilities for easy installation and troubleshooting.
  1. Bottom Bar:
  2. Fully padded bottom bar.
  3. Releases from side frames in either direction upon impact.
  4. Upon impact, door operation is stopped.
  5. Bottom bar must be self-repairing. Door must automatically reset itself after impact by pressing a button on control panel, no tools required.
  6. Door to be provided with failsafe electric safety edge. No pneumatic edges allowed.
  1. Safety Features:
  2. Door to be provided with 1 set of side frame mounted blanking light curtains
  3. Door to be provided with failsafe electric safety edge. Door controller must indicate if the safety edge is not operable.
  4. Door must be provided with a full width padded bottom bar.
  1. Speed:
  2. Door to operate at a variable speed up to 130" per second in the up direction. Door must operate at a variable speed in the down direction.
  3. All components furnished by factory.

PART 3 – EXECUTION

3.01 EXAMINATION

  1. Verify that opening sizes, tolerances and conditions are acceptable.

3.02 INSTALLATION

  1. Install door assembly in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Use anchorage devices to securely fasten assembly to wall constructions and building framing without distortion or stress.
  3. Fit and align assembly including hardware; level to plumb to provide smooth operation.
  4. Coordinate installation of electrical service. Complete wiring from disconnect to unit components.

3.03 ADJUSTING

  1. Adjust door and operating assemblies.
  2. Test and adjust door, if necessary, for proper operations.

3.04 CLEANING

  1. Clean door and components.
