·  Up to staff at DOE, all specialist are now in place. New Grant writer for DOE. Re-assignments have been completed, now fully staffed. Now called Career Technical and Adult Education.
·  Course open to EMT, firefighters, criminal justice but any teacher can take the course, paid for by DOE. National and international certification. June 29, 30, July 1. Lodging may be paid by Perkins funding.
·  July17 – PN Directors and professional development, VBON updates, EMT will be meeting: 8 hour training for mental health – limited number. Dental professional development in morning, Board of Dental and possible regulations that may be coming.
·  Pharmacy will meet July 24-26 at VCU: Board of Pharmacy updates, including national exam (EXCPT)
·  Cybersecurity: will have a speaker and ½ day with administrators update at 1 PM.
·  PN: no longer need transcripts to be sent to VBON, just email a letter.
·  NCLEX results….only 2 schools are below NCLEX pass rate VBON standards
·  Survey Grant available
·  CNA: new company Credentia – online registration.
·  Many curriculum changes for health and medical science courses. All curriculum have been updated
·  New courses were added: Forensic and informatics
·  Working on Safety Manual for all Trades, will be available online
·  VERSO has been updated and will be available beginning of school year

/ Non-profit status: Presented by Shirley Crawford, Small Business Consultant with 2nd Chance Consulting
·  Will need to pay taxes the first year. By July 1st treasurer should file taxes: Standard 990 Need to do Schedule A due to scholarships.
·  State Corporation was filed this year.
·  Articles of Incorporation of by-laws: in future if needed can update with addendum revisions, will then need to send to SCC in Richmond.
·  Recommend professional assistance (CPA) at least for 1st year Afterwards can do an annual self-audit. Can be within organization.
·  Shirley will send board recommendations for a CPA. Cost is typically $125/hour. This cost may be counted as a business expense.
·  Recommend public access to VAHAMSEA minutes: public access to every Executive Board meeting and Annual meeting – bulleted format
·  1023 is completed and will be signed by Deborah Wright.
·  Schedule H: Shirley will complete and send back in reference to scholarships
·  May want to consider an actual calendar year Jan-Dec 31 rather than the current calendar used (July 1- June 31). Will need to double file this year.
·  Shirley stated Board needs to have a handbook or Board Member Packet that outlines Director responsibilities, policies, committees, etc.
·  Shirley Crawford officially relinquished role to Board member as listed in by-laws.
