Trigger

You want to speed up entry time of standard information that’s required again and again.

Business Process Description Overview
A profile is a collection of information used to configure certain objects. In it, you can store standard information that you need repeatedly in almost identical combinations when maintaining different objects. Thus, a profile simplifies the entry and management of data. In the case of material master data, the objects are the material master records and the object data is the material requirements planning (MRP) data which you can enter in the MRP profile.
Input - Required Fields / Field Value/Comments
MRP profile / Key that you can use to store MRP parameters that are independent of the material master record.In an MRP profile, you definewhich fields are filled with values when MRP data is entered in the material master record,which values these fields have, and which of these values can be overwritten and which can not.
Output - Results / Comments
The MRP profiles were created. / MRP profile is a useful entry aid and makes it easier to manage MRP data.

Tips and Tricks

It’s much easier to enter MMD1 in the command field than it is to drill down through the menu path.

Purpose

Use this procedure to define which fields are filled with values when MRP data is entered in the material master record.

Trigger

Perform this procedure when you want to speed up entry time of standard information that’s required again and again.

Prerequisites

  • A material master record must exist.

Menu Path

Use the following menu path(s) to begin this transaction:

Logistics Material Management Material Master MRP Profile Createto go to the Create MRP Profile: Initial Screen.

Helpful Hints

  • If the system detects inconsistencies or errors, it asks you to change the fields selected on the selection screen and/or to correct the values. Otherwise, the initial screen appears where you can begin to create another profile.

Procedure

1.Start the transaction using the menu path or transaction code. The Create MRP Profile: Initial Screen screen displays.

2.As required, complete/review the following fields:

Field Name / R/O/C / Description
MRP profile / R / Key that you can use to store MRP parameters that are independent of the material master record.In an MRP profile, you definewhich fields are filled with values when MRP data is entered in the material master record,which values these fields have, and which of these values can be overwritten and which can not.

MRP profile / O / Enter the name of an existing profile to copy its values to a new profile.

3.Click . The Create MRP Profile: Selection Screen screen displays.

4.As required, complete/review the following fields:

5.Perform one of the following:

You want the corresponding fields copied to the material master record as a fixed value; that is, the value cannot then be overwritten in the material master record. / Select .
You want the corresponding fields copied to the material master record as a default value; that is, the value can then be overwritten in the material master record.. / Select .

6.Select the items that you want copied to the material master as fixed or default values.

7.Click . The Create MRP Profile: Data Screen 1 screen displays.

8.As required, complete/review the following fields:

MRP Type / O / Used to identify the type of MRP method used to purchase planned material.

MRP controller / O / Controller or group of controllers responsible for planning material requirements.

Plnd delivery time / O / Number of calendar days needed to obtain the material or service if it is procured externally.

Reorder Point / O / Stock quantity below which a new order is placed for the material.
Example:10.000
Lot size / O / Standard quantity to be produced or ordered.

Period indicator / O / Code used to identify the period in which the consumption and forecast values will be managed for a production material

Procurement type / O / Code used to identify the period in which the consumption and forecast values will be managed for a production material

9.Click Save . The Create MRP Profile: Initial Screen screen displays.

The system displays the message, "MRP profile XXXX created".

10.Click Exit.

11.You have completed this transaction.
