Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I become a member of the working group?

To become a member really means being a part of the communication channel. To do this, you must maintain an account on the CAISSWG portal, the working group’s data SharePoint. The portal is hosted by the ODNI Special Security Center at https://www.intelink.gov/sites/ssc

How do get access to the portal?

To gain access, refer to registration instructions at http://www.dni.gov/ssc/sscportal.html. Use your GPOC or COTR as your Govt sponsor. Once you have SSC portal access, the CAISSWG site should be visible to you from https://www.intelink.gov/sites/ssc à Industry tab à CAISSWG

Is there a mailing list I can join?

No. To receive an email when something is posted or changed on the portal, you need to set your own email alerts within your portal profile. Select a data category from the menu, (e.g., Conferences), and then select Actions à Alert Me. Identify your alert parameters and click the OK button. A portal user can select addressees on demand from the list of portal users and send an email.

What does membership really mean?

True membership means engaging in the CAISSWG portal communication, scheduled conferences, and special initiatives on behalf of our Government partners.

Do I have to be a member to attend a conference?

No. Conference information/registration forms can be obtained from any CAISSWG portal member. As long as you have the requisite clearance level, you are eligible to register on a first-come, first-served basis.

What is CAISSWG’s purpose?

The CAISSWG Charter details its organization. In a nutshell, CAISSWG serves as

•  a contractor educational forum relative to ISS policy, technology and product

•  a resource to the Industrial Security Working Group (ISWG)

•  a collaboration forum between industry and Government

How often and where are conferences held?

Formal conferences are generally held twice per year; in the spring and fall. CAISSWG relies on Government and contractor volunteerism to provide a hosting location. An attempt is made to solicit hosting locations in different geographic locations to avoid the same travel costs to the same participants each time. A formal agenda is assembled by the CAISSWG board for each conference

What does hosting a conference require/cost?

The intent is for the hosting location to incur very little cost. CAISSWG attempts to secure a conference location large enough to accommodate 100-300 attendees, with minimal disruption to the location’s normal activities. A local POC will work with a CAISSWG board member to facilitate the conference administrative details. A daily fee is charged to participants to cover the planned expenses.
