Hat pattern
I used DK and size 3.50 hook
6ch and join with slip stitch or magic circle and make 3 ch counts as first treble and then do a further 11 treble into the circle = total 12 trebles
2nd round ..3ch and 1tr into same stitch then 2treble into each treble to end and slip st into top of 3ch
3rd round ...3ch and 1tr into same stitch, *1tr into next st then 2tr into next treble stitch* repeat to end slip stitch into top of 3ch
4th round....3ch and 1tr into same stitch, *1tr into next 2st then 2tr into next treble stitch* repeat to end slip stitch into top of 3ch
5th round.....3ch and 1tr into same stitch, *1tr into next 3st then 2tr into next treble stitch* repeat to end slip stitch into top of 3ch
Next row you will be working in back loops only as this will be the row used later for the crab stitch (reverse crochet stitch) if you don't know this stitch youtube has some good videos.
6th round.... Back loop only .. begin with 3ch and then half treble into each treble stitch all round join with slst into top of 3ch
7th to 13th round working through both loops ...begin with 3ch then half treble into each stitch
14th round...repeat round 6
15th and 16th round ...same as round 7
tada hat finished now to trim it
where you did the rows working into the back loops (crown and just above cast off) you have some loose chain showing. These are the chains you work the crab stitch on. I also done the crab stitch around the bottom of the hat, decorate whatever way you like. I liked to crochet the flower and put a button on the centre then attached it onto the area where I joined each round as it helps to conceal the joins. I did not put any other decor on the skull of the hat as I think on the back could maybe be uncomfortable for baby :)
