BRIDGE TO LEADERSHIP AWARD
2007 – 2008
The Chamber of Commerce of Coral Springs, and the Chamber’s Education Committee, is offering five Bridge To Leadership Awards. One award will be presented to a student from each of the five Coral Springs high schools. The award will include a scholarship in the amount of $500.
Each school must submit at least ten applicants to qualify. Three candidates selected from each qualifying school will become finalists and complete a final interview process. Candidates should complete the following information and submit it to the chamber office no later than 5:00 pm, FRIDAY, February 22, 2008.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Primary consideration will be given to students who demonstrate overall excellence and leadership. This will be supplemented by completion of the other requirements and the applicant’s overall application. Awards will be made without regard to race, creed, color, sex, religion, or national origin.
The applicant must:
-Be a high school senior currently enrolled in Coral Springs High, Taravella High, Stoneman Douglas High, Coral Glades High, or the Coral Springs Charter School
-Maintain an unweighted GPA of not less than 2.0
-Plan to attend an accredited college, university or technical institute during the 2008-2009 academic year
-Be a U.S. citizen or resident alien
The top three applicants from each school will be determined by a panel using the written applications. Those three finalists will undergo an interview process and the winning student will be selected.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES:
Applicants must meet eligibility qualifications. Detach the application form and keep this information section for reference.
-Complete and sign the application form.
-Attached a brief reference from both a teacher and a professional in your place of work or someone associated with your community service or leadership involvement.
-Have your Brace Advisor verify and sign-off on the High School Data section.
-Provide a written description of your community service, leadership qualities, your recognition and awards.
-Provide proof of acceptance to college, university, or technical school no later than Friday, April 25th, 2008.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:
The scholarship application and all supporting materials must be delivered to the address shown above no later than 5:00 pm., Friday, February 22, 2008.
AWARD ADMINISTRATION:
The awards will be administered by the Chamber of Commerce of Coral Springs Education Committee and presented at the annual Chamber Gala held on Friday, May 2, 2008. Scholarship funds apply to the 2008 – 2009 academic year.
