IV. Guests

  1. Jen Mussella- Rho Lambda is a woman leadership organization and they are looking to involve the women of the MGC and NPHC in their organization. Applications can be found and turned in to the Greek Life Office.

V.Reports

  1. President
  2. VP Position
  3. Camillo Rojas has been appointed to the VP position. A vote was conducted and it passed.
  4. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Speaker
  5. Tuesday, January 12, 8 p.m. or Wednesday, January 13, 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. in the Florida Ballrooms. A majority vote was taken and the council agreed to meet with the speaker on Tuesday, January 12, at 8 p.m.
  6. A biography will be sent to all organizations.
  7. 2010 US Census Tour
  8. Tuesday, January 12, from 4:00-7:30 p.m. there will be a showcase for MGC organizations at the Civic Center at the basketball game. We need to have a yes or no by 12 p.m. and it needs to be sent to Portia.
  9. Proposals
  10. Alpha Kappa Delta Phi would like the MGC to co-host their 3rd annual “Singled Out” event during their formal week, which is January 31- February 6. The event will take place Thursday, February 4 from 7-10 p.m. in Smith Hall Lounge. They are asking for $100, which would go towards the purchase of prizes for the winners and decorations. A vote was taken and it passed. 50% of all organization’s membership has to attend.
  11. The MGC is allowed to co-host events this year with organizations so keep that in mind.
  12. Lambda Theta Alpha and Phi Iota Alpha will not be in attendance, as they have to be present at Beyond Boarders.

VII.New Business

  • Expansion
  • Omega Phi Beta and Sigma Sigma Rho are the two new members.
  • Pamphlet
  • Will be done for orientations. All organizations need to send their information to Santi by the end of the month. The templates will be brought to the second voting council to be voted on. The pamphlet will be worked on for most of the semester and finished in time for orientation.
  • MGC Open House
  • Send an email to Portia detailing the set up and what we want to transpire during the open house.

VIII. Advisor Comments

  • Greek Perspectives
  • A new program that was created by the Greek Life Office. It is a book club that has multiple meetings. This I Believe is the name of the book. It is geared towards new members. The first 40 members to sign up will get a free book. January 27 at 6 p.m. is the first meeting. Place TBA. The second meeting is February 25 at 6 p.m. The third meeting is April 8 at 6 p.m.

IX.Announcements

  1. Sigma Beta Rho introduced their newest members
  2. AKDPhi has a probate this Thursday, January 14, at 7:30 p.m.
  3. This week is Spanish Fly so go out and show your support.
  4. LTA’s are having a fundraiser at Stevie B’s from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2010.
