Surgery Director – Naples, FL; Humane Society Naples –
The Humane Society Naples is southwest Florida’s premiere no-kill, cage free, shelter. We operate on a limited admission basis within a recently renovated facility that shelters and adopts 3-4000 dogs, cats, and small mammals per year. We enjoy enormous support from our community that allows for yearly growth and expansion. Furthermore, we are 5-star rated charity organization and second in the US in animal welfare from Charity Navigator. We are currently staffed by 2 full time clinic veterinarians, 1 full time shelter veterinarian, a part time surgeon, 50+ employees, and hundreds of active volunteers. Attached to the shelter is our full service, open to the public veterinary clinic which contains in-house blood analyzers, DR radiography, DR dental radiography, ultrasound, surgical laser, TonoVet, oxygen generator, fully stocked pharmacy, and more state of the art equipment added every year. The clinic serves shelter animals, recently adopted animals, and privately owned pets, 6 days per week.
Current plans, to be completed in the next 5 years, include a multi-million dollar expansion and build-out of an offsite property currently containing a large boarding facility. We will be adding geriatric care, kitten and puppy nursery, and a low cost spay/neuter operation. Located on the coast in south-west Florida, Naples is located 30 minutes south of Fort Myers, and is an easy drive to both Miami and Tampa. Located between beautiful gulf beaches and the everglades, it is a very affluent city that is expanding rapidly. Naples also boasts some of the state’s best public schools.We are currently looking to add a full time surgery position within the veterinary clinic. This veterinarian will be responsible for the surgical care of all shelter animals and client-owned animals. This includes spay/neuter, standard oral surgery procedures such as extractions, basic orthopedics, routine mass removals, abdominal procedures, and basic ocular surgery. An ideal candidate will be able to lead a team of technicians, head the operating room in day-to-day activity, as well as be involved in the expansion of our facilities over the next several years. Previous experience with high quality, high volume, spay/neuter is required. The position is Monday-Friday with no after-hours emergencies. Occasionally, the veterinarian may be asked to see appointments during the week or on a Saturday.
