BEST LITTLE BBQ COOK-OFF IN TEXAS
MARCH 9 & 10, 2018 – SANCTIONED BBQ COOK-OFF RULES
LONESTAR BBQ SOCIETY
at Fayette County Fairground, La Grange, Texas
- Teams will consist of CHIEF COOK and up to 5 team members.
- Cookers may enter the fairgrounds on Friday morning. Do not set up without talking with Jimmy Rohde!
- Cookers must cook the 3 meat categories.
- The categories to be judged are: Beef Brisket, Pork Ribs, Chicken, Pork Butt, Pinto Beans, and Chili.
- Meat check-in will begin at 12 p.m., FRIDAY, March 9; meat must be raw, thawed and unseasoned.
- JUDGING March 9th, FRIDAY – Pinto Beans@ 7 p.m.; Chief Cooks Meeing & Calcutta Auction @ 8 p.m.
- JUDGING March 10th, SATURDAY – Chili @ 9 a.m.; Chicken @ 10 a.m.; Pork Ribs @ 11:30 a.m.; Pork Butt @ 12:30 p.m.; and Beef Brisket @ 1:30 p.m.
- A 20X30’ space will be available for each team; BBQ pits and campers only (must fit into space provided)
- Cookers are responsible for all needed equipment and supplies.
- THE EVENT STAFF WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEFT AND/OR ANY TYPE OF DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT OF THE COOKERS (PITS, VEHICLES, CAMPERS, BELONGINGS, ETC.)
- Fire must be of wood or wood substance. No electric or gas fires allowed. Only beans and chili will be allowed on a burner. Holes or dug out pits are not permitted.
- The chief cook of each team will be held responsible for the conduct of his/her team and guests. Excessive use of alcohol or fighting will be grounds for disqualification and offending participants will be escorted off grounds.
- Team’s alcohol beverages are limited to team consumption only and not to be given away to visitors. The event has organizations selling beer on the grounds as fund raising projects.
- Cash awards and trophies will be given in each category, Pinto Beans, Chili, Pork Butt, Chicken, Pork Ribs, and Beef.
- Chairmen reserve the right to make additional regulations as situations warrant. Decisions of the committee chairmen are final.
- Campers must supply own source of electricity and water.
- Curfew will be in effect: 12:00 a.m. No loud parties after midnight. No loud music anytime.
- No vehicles, ATV, or golf carts allowed in cook-off area. Pets must be on a leash at all times on grounds.
- Space is limited so turn in your entry form early.
- No glass allowed.
