Be neighbourly Street Champions (Cold Weather) application form

‘be neighbourly’ is a campaign to increase neighbourliness in the Bradford District. A key part of this is to encourage people to volunteer to be Street Champions during cold weather.

The Warm Homes Healthy People Partnership (including Bradford Council’s Department of Public Health) seeks to develop connections with people at the street level who can help protect people who are vulnerable to cold weather.

What would being a Street Champion (cold weather) involve?

·  Generally being someone in your street that people can trust

·  Being prepared to help people in cold weather and encourage others to get involved.

·  Receiving cold weather warnings and information on what you could do with your neighbours to help protect people who may become vulnerable during cold spells.

/ Bradford District has many people who act as street champions already. Vera Allot is one of these people. Vera won a Community Stars Award in 2012 and said:
‘Through it I’ve made wonderful friends so I could recommend being a good neighbour to anyone. To have friends, you have to be friendly’.

Community Champions get involved in whatever extent they feel able, doing as much or as little as they wish.
