Turn in your work on time. That being said, please do not forget to take advantage of the late work policy if you forget about an assignment. It’s better to receive some credit rather than no credit. I am happy to take your late work and will award points based on the chart above.
Classroom Procedures:
1)Entering the classroom: Students will enter the classroom, take their seats, and begin working on the warm-up for the day. Students must be in their seats when the tardy bell rings. Students will not be admitted into the classroom after the tardy bell without a pass, per AHS policy.
2)Dismissal: The teacher will tell students when to pack up for dismissal. At AHS, we offer bell-to-bell instruction, and students are expected to remain engaged for the entire class period. If you pack up early, you will receive a detention.
3)Turning in assignments: You will turn your assignments into the drawer for your class period. The classroom drawers are all located on the table that is in front of the window.
4)If you are absent (Make Up Policy):
Check your syllabus to see what you missed and what we are working on the day you return. You can also check my website.
Make-up work and handouts are located in the labeled make-up folders that are in the black mesh container in the back of the room (next to the door connecting us to the room next door).
You will need to meet with me to make up any missed quizzes or tests. Quizzes and tests must be made up during a tutorials session or by appointment before or after school.
Students are responsible for making up all missed work and acquiring any missed assignments.
You have the number of days you were absent to complete make up work, so if you are absent one day then you only have one day to complete your make-up work.
5)Detention: If a student is assigned a detention, it must be served within one week of its assignment. Failure to so will result in an office referral and parent contact. Detentions will be served with me during tutorials.
6)Food and Drink: Food and drinks are not permitted in classrooms at AHS. Students are only permitted to have water in the classroom.
7)Restroom Policy:Restroom visits will only be allowed when they do not interrupt instruction. Do not ask to go to the restroom during instruction. (If you have a medical condition, please get with me to create a signal that you can use when you need to go.)
8)Google Drive: Students are encouraged to use their Humble ISD Google Drive accounts to complete, store, and submit assignments. This new addition to our campus allows our students to have more opportunities to complete assignments and receive feedback from their teachers.
9)Do your own work: Students are expected to complete independent work on their own. Do not plagiarize or copy assignments. Students sign an honesty contract at the beginning of the year, and school consequences will be enforced.
BYOD Policy: All cellphones, ear buds, and other electronic devices must remain out of sight for the entire class period, unless the teacher gives permission to the class to use their devices for a class activity, such as Kahoot. If a student chooses to get out a device without permission, the consequences are as follows:
1 - First Incident = Verbal warning
2- Second Incident = Detention
3 – Third/Continued Incidents = Office referral and parent contact
