(Grade 6)
Number and Operations in Base Ten
Generalize place value understanding for multi-digit whole numbers. CC.4.NBT.1
Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic. CC.4.NBT.4, CC.4.NBT.5, CC.4.NBT.6 / NBT.2 Explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying a number by powers of 10, and explain patterns in the placement of the decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided by a power of 10. Use whole-number exponents to denote powers of q10.
·  I can find patterns in quotients when dividing by powers of 10. / The Number System
Compute fluently with multi-digit numbers and find common factors and multiples. CC.6.NS.3
NBT.7 Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.
·  I can model division of decimals by whole numbers.
·  I can estimate decimal quotients.
·  I can divide decimals by whole numbers.
·  I can model division by decimals.
·  I can place the decimal point in decimal division.
·  I can write a zero in the dividend to find a quotient.
·  I can solve multistep decimal problems using the strategy work backward.

Each day the math block will begin with 15 minutes of Daily Math Review and Mental Math. The focus of DMR should be either prerequisite standard skills or previous chapter concepts that were not mastered. The focus of mental math should be based on the current Chapter’s skills and concepts. Adjust the amount of questions in DMR and MM to fit into the 15 minute time block.

Suggested Chapter Pacing

All lessons are paced for one day, unless otherwise indicated. Teachers may adjust to meet students’ needs.
