Parent Newsletter September 2017

Classes at ATDA have been in session for three and a half weeksand our students are getting accustomed to their daily routines. We have many returning students as well as many new students in all grade levels. As a reminder, students will be required to wear their Student ID badges on a lanyard around their necks while they are on campus. Also, cell phones, heads sets, and ear buds are to be put away once classes begin in the morning and after their lunch period. OurDress code remains reinforced throughout the school year, please refer to your student’s handbook for specific information. Please make sure your students are at school no later than 8:25 am, as classes begin at 8:30 am. Students that are late or are not wearing their ID will be assigned a lunch detention. Students that are consistently late will also be assigned to attend Friday school from 9am to 11am. Please call Ms. Lloyd at 505-503-2465 in the Attendance Office to report any absences that your children may have.Also enclosed with this letter, are the results of the PARCC and SBA (11th grade only) exam results for the students who attended ATDA last year and took the exam in the spring. These copies are for your review and safe keeping.

Labor Day is on Monday, September4th, 2017, and there will not be classes or office hours held on that day.On Friday, September 1st, teachers will be off campus preparing for Open House. Drivers’ Ed classes will be held beginning at 11:45 to 1:30 pm. ATDA will have our Fall Open House and Annual Title 1 meeting on Thursday, September 14thfrom 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.Class visits will begin at 5:30 and our Annual Title I informational meeting will be held at 6:00 – 6:30 pm, followed by a continuation of the classroom visits. During class visits, teachers will give parents a copy of their class syllabi, class rules, and their students’ Mid-Nine Weeks Report Forms to be signed and returned to their students’ teachers.Teachers may offer extra credit points to students whose parents attend the Open House and return the signed Mid-Nine Weeks Forms. During the Open House, please take the time to drop by the tables in front of our classrooms to support our Student Council fundraiser by shopping at our “Yard Sale,” which will be held during our Open House. If you would like to donate gently used items for our “Yard Sale” please bring them by the office before Sept. 13th. Yearbooks from last year will also be sold at a discount price.

On Thursday, 09/28, at 5:30 pm, ATDA will hold its regularly scheduled Governing Council Meeting in the ATDA office. Governing Council is the ATDA “school board,” which approves policies regarding the financial, academic, and administrative functions of the school. Parents and community members are welcome to attend and there is an open forum for community input during the meeting. If you would like to serve on the ATDA Governing Council as a member, please submit your resume to Ms. Garza in order to be considered when a vacancy occurs in this worthwhile voluntary support of your school.

FYI - School Yearbook Pictures will be on October 11th. A form will be sent home with your student a week before “Picture Day” in order for you to choose the packet that you would like to purchase. Payment is due at the time your student’s school picture is taken. Makeup and retakes will be scheduled at a later date.

Because we will have Open House this month, we will not have a Parent Advisory Council this month. The next meeting date will be in the October Parent Newsletter.

Sept., 6th-ATDA Soccer vs DATA at Bullhead Park (BHP) field 4 @ 5:00.

Sept,, 11- ATDA Flag Football vsAIMS at (BHP) field 1 @ 5:30 pm. ATDA Soccer vs ECRA at BHP field 4@ 5:00.

Sept., 14th - Open House, Title One Meeting and Yard Sale,5:30 pm to 7:30pm.

Sept., 15th – ASVAB Testing, 9:00 am. Only for 10th-12th graders who have already signed up.

Sept., 25th –ATDA Soccer vs South Valley Academy at SVA @5:00.

Sept., 27th –.ATDA Flag Football vs NuestroValores at BHP field 1 @ 5:30 pm.

Sept., 28th- Governing Council Meeting at 5:30 pm, Main Office.
