Fire Science Technology Instructor (Adjunct)

Description of Duties:

Under supervision of the Dean of Academic Affairs, the instructor will be responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for courses within the Fire Science diploma and Fire Science TCCs (Technical Certificates of Credit) including Firefighter I and Firefighter II, Fire Officer I and Fire Officer II, and Basic Fire Company Officer. Duties include lecture, lab, instructional activities, student advisement, evaluation of students’ progress, required documentation, and development of instructional materials.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate Degree *and* Three (3) years’ experience within the last five years in the firefighting field. Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.

Must be a Certified Georgia Firefighter (NPQ Firefighter I) and possess the NPQ Fire Instructor I certification. Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possess strong interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills. Must be computer proficient.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science or a related field (but with a minimum of 18 semester hours in Fire Science). Experience teaching at the postsecondary level.

Salary: The salary is commensurate with education, in-field experience, and training levels. There are no State of GA benefits associated with this position as it is a part-time, temporary assignment. Adjunct faculty work on an as-needed basis. This position is not to exceed 25 hours per week.
