You’ll be working across the Social media and National events teams to support the social media work of our National events programme. You’ll have responsibility for developing a structured donor communications plan whilst learning how to engage supporters and run a thriving social media account. You’ll also be helping us to develop our social media recruitment strategy across our National Events.

Why do we need you?

To develop our Events donor communication plan, engage donors through events and support our event participants to ultimately raise funds for people affected by cancer.

What are the objectives?

  • Develop a donor communication plan to fully engage our donors through events, ensuring speedy response to queries and planned post responses
  • Track and assess the performance of Macmillan’s national events pages
  • Develop in collaboration with the team a strategy to improve their performance
  • Monitor social media activity across the charity sector to identify examples of best practice.

How much time should you offer? When would you be needed? Where will you be based?

The project lasts for twelve weeks and you would need to be available for the duration. We

are flexible about the days that you come to the office, but we ask for a minimum of three days per week. You will be based in our London office in SE1.

What activities will you be involved in?

  • Managing national event social media activity to engage and retain supporters
  • Engaging with supporters both on our online community and Facebook
  • Creating content for our social channels
  • Posting key messages and responding to planned and promoted post responses
  • Contributing to our social media newsletter & monitoring our competition
  • To support National events team programme managers with event marketing campaign administration - this may include updating supporter details, responding to supporter enquiries, planning supporter email content, updating website content (1 day a week)

What are we looking for?

Skills / Qualifications required

  • Social media experience, fundraising experience desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of people
  • An ability to adhere to Macmillan’s policies including health and safety, equal opportunities, confidentiality and financial guidelines
  • An interest in cancer care and the services that Macmillan provides.
