Santa clothes:
2 mm knitting needles
Yarn: Red and white - Fingering weight yarn
Sweater:
Begin with front piece.
Cast on 24 sts with white and work rib st, K 1, P 1, for 3 rows.
Change to red and stockinette stitch until work measures 6 cm.
Continue with:
Rows 1, 3: Red, K 9, white, K 6, red, K 9
Rows 2, 4: Red, P 9, white, K 6, red, P 9
Now divide work in center, and knit each side separately = 12 sts on each part.
Begin with right front piece, seen from the front:
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7: Red, K 9, white, K 3
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8: White, K 3, red, K 9
Row 9: Red, K 6, white, K 6
Row 10: White, cast off 3 sts in knit, K 3, red, K 6
Rows 11, 13: Red, K 6, white, K 3
Rows 12, 14: White, K 3, red, K 6
Work the other part the same, but in the opposite direction.
Work both pieces together (from right side) like this:
Rows 15, 17: Red, K 6, white, K 3, cast on 6 new sts, K 3, red, K 6
Rows 16, 18: Red, P 6, white, K 12, red, P 6
Continue to work with red over all sts until back piece measures 7 ½ cm
or is as long as the front piece, to the white edge.
Change to white yarn and end with 1 row knit stitch and 3 rows rib stitch.
Cast off.
Sleeves:
Pick up 24 sts with red, of the middle 7 cm sts on the side, from right side.
Work stockinette stitch.
When sleeve measures 2 cm, decrease 1 st on each side.
Repeat decrease at 4 cm = 20 sts
Continue until sleeve measures 6 cm.
Change to white and work 1 row rib sttch and 3 rows rib stitch.
Cast off.
Work the other sleeve the same.
Santa cap:
Cast on 36 sts with white yarn.
Work 7 rows rib stitch, K 1, P 1.
Change to red yarn and stockinette stitch, M 6 evenly across first row = 42 sts
At 4 cm decrease 4 sts, every fourth row, until 26 sts remain.
Now decrease 5 sts, every fourth row, until 6 sts remain.
3 rows stockinette stitch.
Knit 2 sts tog across.
Pull thread through the remaining sts.
Sew hat seams together.
Attach a white pompom.
Pants:
Cast on 24 sts with white yarn and work 3 rows rib stitch, K 1, P 1.
Change to red yarn and continue with stockinette stitch until piece measures 11 cm.
Cast off 2 sts stitch on each side, cast off 1 st stitch on each side,
Work the other leg the same.
Join legs together: Knit tog last st of the first part ,
and the first st of the second part. = 35 sts
When piece measures 1 cm after joining stitch, decrease 2 sts evenly across row = 33 sts
When piece measures 2 ½ cm after joining stitch,
end with 2 rows rib stitch, K 1, P 1.
Cast off.
