2 / Have Your Say
There was a constructive discussion on how to reinvigorate the voluntary movement. CF suggested ideas including open days / showcases to attract members and learners.
3 / Performance and gospel singing workshop with Deborah and Jacqueline Marshall
Deborah and Jacqueline Marshall provided an insight into the culture, background and history of how the spirituals came about. This involved a singing workshop. The conclusion of the workshop focussed on how we challenge injustice and how this is relevant in today's society.
4 / EGM, 11.00-13.00, 5 November 2016, Glyndwr University, Wrexham
Company Secretary, Stephen Thomas gave a brief presentation on the final proposals for the new identity and logos. He focussed on the importance of retaining the identities of the 3 heritage organisations. Voting took place on individuals’ preferred option. ST then explained the strapline and how there was still a need for it. He passed around the proposed strapline and explained how the tag lines could be added to it to suit the target group i.e. ‘in your community’ or ‘in your workplace’. All were asked to indicate their preference on the voting paper provided. The decision on the new name/branding will be made on 5th November, at the EGM due to be held in Wrexham. The idea of having a National Assembly has been taken away due to doubts expressed. Regional forums will be strengthened due to these constitutional amendments going forward.
5 / Campaign for Adult Education
DR outlined how the campaign group had set out four aims to go forward:
Utilise contacts that we have regionally through groups and branches.
Utilise the electronic means for campaigning
Gather case studies where adult learning has had a positive impact on people's lives.
Develop educational resources to help build citizenship and develop an understanding of issues so that people can make informed decisions.
