I. What is Center Stage Korea?

Center Stage Korea(CSK) initiated and organized by Korea Arts Management Service(KAMS),is an international grant program for international presenters to present Korean performing arts on the stage.

Center Stage Korea partners with presenters, performing arts centers, theatres and other staging Koreaperforming arts programs. Itis dedicated to enriching the cultural lives of audiences all over the world by introducing the diversity of Korean performing arts.

II. General description

i. Who can apply

International performing arts organizations (festival, venue, and network)

▪Any project that invites Korean artists/groups with appropriate conditions (performance fee, accommodation, per-diem, etc.)

▪The project must occur and finish between March 2016 and January 2017

ⅱ. Eligible project

1) A single festival or venue presenting a Korea Focus program

Korea focus program
1. A program featuring multiple Korean performing artists and groups
2. A program featuring Korean performing groupsin an opening or closing performance
It is highly recommended that the Korea focus program includes an additional program, such as workshop, forum, press meeting, or reception to focus on Korean performing arts.

2) A tour arrangement featuring one or more Korean performing artists/groups with partner organizations in several venues

3) A tour arrangement featuring one or more Korean performing artists/groups by members of a partnered cooperative network (EFWMF, EDN)

※ KAMS supports an open call for international performing arts organizations who hope to organize a Korea Focus Program but have no information on Korean artists/groups. Please contact KAMS, if you are planning to organize a Korea Focus program.

iii. Terms andConditions

▪KAMS will fund international airfare and freight costs for the Korean performing artists/companies involved in the selected projects up to the amount covered by the grant. This grant will be allocated directly to the Korean performing artists/companies.

▪Working in partnership with the organizer of the selected project, KAMS may be able to provide additional financial assistance for supplementary programs such as workshops, forums, conferences, artist talks, receptions, etc.

▪The organizer of the selected project (grant applicant), must report to the Korea Arts Management Service with a feedback report within one month of the completion of all performances and related events.

iv.Selection Criteria

KAMS is looking for partners with:

▪A project focus on Korean performing arts

▪An international organization’s contribution to Korean artists/groups

▪A number of arranged tours of Korean artists/groups

v. Remarks

▪ Projectswhere Korean artists and groups are invited without a performance fee, are ineligible

▪Projects receiving funds from other Korean governmental institutions, including Arts Council Korea and Korea Foundation, are ineligible.

▪Only projects providing appropriate performances fees and other considerations, and which have reached an agreement with the artists over such fees, will be considered.

▪It is highly recommended that proposals include supplementary components, such as workshops or other exchanges with local artists and communities.

▪ KAMS reserves the right to reevaluate grant conditions if any elements of a selected project or proposal are later altered.

▪Cancellation of a project that has passed the selection and/or funding stage may reflect poorly on the applicant during consideration of future applications.

III. Submission

▪Application with description of project and organizer(in Word format).

▪ Optional supplementary materials documenting previous projects as the applicant deems fit.

Selected applicants will be notified by email in January 2015, and projects will be announced on KAMS’ website. KAMS will be in communication with project organizers to discuss additional project details and further development of the mutual partnership.
