Overview of Role

NANSA runs a unique café within the Julian Hospital in Norwich, providing light meals and snacks to staff and visitors. This is a partnership with the Health Trust which enables us to provide café training and volunteering opportunities for people with disabilities. The Café Supervisor is responsible for the successful day to day running and delivery of the Wrap & Roll café including ordering and maintaining stock, dealing with relevant paperwork and money, ensuring a high quality café service is delivered, identifying and recommending changes that meet customers’ needs, generating and building income for the charity, supervising catering staff and supporting NANSA volunteers. As the café is based in the NHS Trust hospital, it also requires ongoing liaison with staff and management there, as well as maintaining relevant quality standards and legal requirements.

Working hours:25 hours per week Monday to FridayWork Location: Wrap & Roll café in Norwich, plus any outreach or other locations
9.30am to 2.30pmas needed by the charity

Salary Scale: NANSA salary scale pt.11Key Customers:Staff, visitors and patients at the Julian (and Community) hospital,

This role requires a high level of communication skills and customer service, ability to support and lead a small team, and promote inclusion and empowerment. Strong organisational skills are also needed, the ability to juggle numerous activities at once, and the ability to identify business opportunities.

NANSA Wrap & Roll Café Supervisor

  1. A sustainable financial surplus is generated for the charity through income from the Wrap & Roll Café and services.
  2. All legal requirements and relevant quality standards are met.
  3. NANSA and its ethos of inclusion and empowerment are promoted through development and delivery of high quality catering services.
  4. The café is run within the guidelines agreed with the partnership with the NHS Trust .

  • Order and manage stock levels effectively and efficiently
  • Manage cashflowand organise all relevant paperwork
  • Drive sales growth by meeting the expectations of customers and developing new ideas
  • Ensure high quality is maintained and lead by example to other staff and volunteers in relation to outstanding customer service
  • Conduct daily checks for health and safety, food safety/hygiene and other legal requirements; undertake any necessary work to meet the standards
  • Build good relations with the NHS Trust, staff, patients and visitors and deliver a high level of customer service
  • Prepare and serve food and drinks, keep vending machine stocked, keep café area clean and tidy
  • Support volunteers who have completed NANSA’s traineeship to continue to develop skills, experience and confidence in working within the café.
