Current Events:Thanks for all that our PTB did in recognition of Teacher Appreciation week!! We are so blessed to have your support!!! If you have not already sent in your child’s permission and $6.00 fee for the Harrisonburg Children’s Museum, try to send it on Monday. Thanks to those who have return the permission form and money. Plus, I do need to give Ms. Konopka a picnic lunch count so that she can order enough supplies to pack our lunches. Please make certain that your child’s school lunches are paid up through the end of the school year. Any money left in your child’s account will apply to next year.Mrs. McAllister has been substituting in our classroom while I attended the Market Animal Show to watch my son’s final time showing his lambs and hogs at this event, which has been since he was 9 years old. As testing continues next week, your child will have 5 self-selected books for nightly reading and re-reading, with selecting a story to read each night. Please return pictures or send in the money for what you plan to keep. Thanks!

mothers are special to us.Also, writing and drawing Aaron’s birthday book.

Math:We have been practicing adding and subtracting2 digit numbers without regrouping. Working with different strategies to solve and check our work, as well as how to mentally think about adding or taking away 10 or 1 from a 2 digit number.

Science:We have been reading about insect anatomy, as well as how the grasshopper keeps itself safe in our Scholastic News: “One Tough Bug.” Also, the used a grasshopper diagram to respond to questions about the grasshopper found in the captions around the diagram.

Social Studies: The children made a time line of the life of George Washington Carver with Ms. Cox.

WEEK B ROTATION SCHEDULE: With possible schedule changes, please have your child to wear tennis shoes each day until the end of school. Sandals or flip-flops may prevent safe participation in an activity. Any gym activities require tennis shoes. There is really little time for shoe changes.

Tuesday, May 9th: Field trip to the Explore More Harrisonburg Children’s Museum. Please send in your child’s permission and $5.50 admission fee.We will leave promptly at 8:30. Please have your child to school on time so that he/she does not miss the bus for this trip. Also, your child will need a snack to bring along to eat on the bus. This is not the same lesson that your child went to in kindergarten.

LOST and FOUND: Parents, before school ends, please stop by the lost and found to check through the huge collection of lost/found items. You may find something that belongs to your child that’s been missing.

Class Yard Sale: To wrap up the end of the year, I have a “yard sale” table where the children will get to spend any cub cash at the end of the year, since we collect all the cub cash. If you have any gently used toys, stuffed animals, or books to donate, that would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully, this will keep them motivated to follow rules to earn cub cash so that they will have a lot of money to spend!
