Dear District Grants Committee,

As the Executive Director of The Winchester Rescue Mission, I am providing this letter of participation for the Community Project Grant application being submitted by The Rotary Club of Winchester.

The purpose of the Winchester Rescue Mission is to express Christ’s love to citizens of Winchester Virginia by providing spiritual guidance, addiction recovery programming, case management, biblical studies, men’s residential shelter housing for the homeless, vocational counseling, and daily community food distributionas well as soup kitchen food services to the impoverished familiesof our community.

The Rescue Mission located at 435 N. Cameron Street in Winchester is in desperate need of building repairs and improvements so they can continue serving the community. This undertaking will be the largest hands-on project for the Rotary Club of Winchester for 2015/16. Club members along with mission residents will work together assisting in demolition, repair and replacement of the handicap bathroom facility, the office bathroom (which also will serve as the women’s bathroom), first floor dorm bathroom, kitchen renovation and much needed exterior paint and repairs.

I am more than happy to share any financial or other information associated with the project covered by Winchester Rescue Mission’s application upon request of the Rotary Foundation or The Rotary District Grants Committee. It is my understanding that The Winchester Rescue Mission will not directly receive grant funds from The Winchester Rotary, but rather work in conjunction with them to complete all renovations as outlined in the application. The Winchester Rotary would then purchase the needed items directly after assuring that they are in accordance with the grant.

We look forward to working with The Winchester Rotary Club. Please contact me if I can be of assistance in this grant application process in any fashion (540-667-5379).

Sincerely,

Neil Connors

Executive Director, Winchester Rescue Mission
