DANCE EXPRESS ENSEMBLE AUDITIONS
AGES 8 & UP
Auditions for our D.E. Ensemble will be held on Wednesday, June 15th at 99 Eastman St. location(see below for times)
PREP DANCE ENSEMBLE
AGES 8-10 Audition time 4:30-5:30
(some dancers this age may be put into the next age up company if we feel they are ready which would be a higher commitment (see 11 & up requirements)
This is an introduction to dance company for those who are interested in performing more along with competing. Dancers will compete in 2-4 competitions a year and participate in other workshops and extra performances. They will be required to take a one hour ballet class and a one hour jazz class. Choreography classes may be added to their schedule as well. Other dance subjects are recommended but not required. Although it is not as much of a commitment as our other dance companies we do have a strict absence policy and expect the dancers to be serious and committed to their team. There will be additional costs including; tuition, competition fees, and workshops. Dancers will be required to take 2011 summer classes to participate in company.
DANCE ENSEMBLE – (AGES 11 & up)
AGES 11-13 - Audition time 5:30-6:30
AGES 14 & up – Audition time 6:30-7:30
These dance companies require a very strong commitment and we are looking for dancers who are serious about dance and willing to make a full commitment. There will be many extra rehearsals, performances and competitions which take place week days/nights and week-ends. The required dance classes for these ages will be a 1 hr. 15min. ballet class, 1 hour jazz class and choreography classes on either Friday or Saturday or possibly both days. For those who would like to compete in tap, lyrical and hip hop you must take those classes as well during the week. Choreography classes will be held on Fridays & Saturdaysfrom October – April and will consist of focusing strictly on their dances they will be competing in. There is a strict NO ABSENCE policy for dance company members which will be strictly enforced!! There are additional costs involved; tuition, competition fees, company costumes, workshops and possible travel costs for competitions. Dancers will be required to take 2011 summer classes to participate in company.
** COMPANY AUDITION REQUIREMENTS (ALL AGES)
Dancers will perform across the floor jazz and ballet combinations that are given to them. They will be taught a short jazz combination which will be performed in small groups. We will be watching the girls for their technique, personality and appearance. Please dress accordingly in a leotard and tights, NO SHORTS OR T-SHIRTS!! Hair should be neat off their face in either a ponytail or bun. Dancers should wear either jazz shoes or ballet slippers. Dancers do not need to prepare anything themselves for the audition.
**Please remember, placement of dancers into company is not only based on ability but also the availability of spots. We do not have as many spots available this year. Dancer’s performance in class throughout the year and their seriousness and absence record is taken into consideration as well. Dancers will receive notice by the end of June as to whether or not they have been placed on to company. PLEASE NOTE: DANCERS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE 4 DAYS OUT OF THE 12 DAYS OFFERED FOR SUMMER CLASSES. PLEASE SEE OUR SUMMER SCHEDULE UNDER INTENSIVE CLASSES FOR CLASS TIMES.
WE WILL HOLD AN INFORMATION MEETING FOR ALL PARENTS OF DANCERS WHO ARE PLANNING ON AUDITIONING. WE SUGGEST YOU ATTEND TO RECEIVE FURTHER INFORMATION AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE HAVING THE GIRLS AUDITION. THIS WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY, JUNE 3rd AT 6:00PM AT 99 EASTMAN ST.

**ALL DANCERS MUST BE REGISTERED FOR THE 2011-12 DANCE SEASON IN ORDER TO AUDITION.
