AWARDS 2017

Live Here Love Herein association with Coca-Cola are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Coast Care Awards! Designed to acknowledge the excellent work of individuals and groups involved in the Clean Coasts Programme, the awards recognise the vital role volunteers play in protecting our coastline and inland waterways.

If you think your group deserves an award for the work carried out on a coastal project, or if there is an individual in your community who you think is so inspiring they deserve to be recognised for their contribution to protecting the Northern Ireland coastline then we want to hear from you. Entry is free and easy, simply fill out a nomination form and send it in before 12 noon on Monday 18thSeptember 2017so your group doesn’t miss out!

Volunteers play an extremely important part in protecting our coastline and inland waterways, this is an excellent opportunity to recognise the contribution of volunteers who Live Here and Love Here.

AWARD CATEGORIES

Please read the notes below carefully to determine whether your group and/or an individual you know could be nominated for an award.

GROUP AWARDS

  1. Coca-Cola Coast Care Group

This award recognises the excellent work of a group throughout the year, who has worked with their local beach operator (e.g. council) and key stakeholders on the creation of an exemplary beach management committee for their stretch of coastline.

  1. Coca-Cola Inland Waterway Group

This award recognises the excellent work of a group throughout the year, who has worked with their water body operator (e.g. council) and key stakeholders on the creation of an exemplary riveror lough management committee for their stretch of river.

  1. Brighter Futures

This award recognises the excellent work of a youth group which has made a valuable contribution to coastal or inland waterwaywork during the year.

  1. Better Business Partnership

This award recognises a business which has supported the Clean Coasts Programme through involvement with a Coast Care group or activity or has been active on the beaches themselves.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

  1. Youth in Action

This award recognises the efforts of an individual between the ages of 12 and 18 years old in raising awareness around an environmental issue which affects a coastal or waterway environment and/or demonstrates an ongoing commitment to practical conservation.

  1. Local Hero

To recognise an individual who has demonstrated ongoing commitment to the coast or inland waterway through consistent hard work on shorelines in the form of clean-ups or other activities.

  1. Picture Perfect

To the photographer submitting a photograph that captures the imaginations of the judges. The image could highlight the fun and colourful activities you have engaged in during the Clean Coasts Programme or celebrate the natural beauty of Northern Ireland’s coastlines and inland waterways throughout the year.

ENTRY GUIDELINES

HOW TO ENTER.

Group and/or individual nominations must be made by completing the attached entry form.

Please fill in as much detail as possible to give your group or your nominee the best possible chance of being selected and return the form as indicated below. The deadline for all entries is 12 noon on Monday 18th September 2017.

NUMBER OF GROUP and/or INDIVIDUAL NOMINATIONS.

Group and/or individual nominations can be made for as many awards as you wish. Please remember volunteers come in many forms; don’t forget the management committee or someone who may not formally volunteer regularly, but is always there when you need them.

HOW YOUR ENTRY WILL BE ASSESSED.

The Coca-Cola Coast Care Awards will be judged by a panel made up of representativesfrom Live Here Love Here, Coca-Cola HBCNorthern Ireland and a number of independent judges.All nominations will be examined carefully by the judging panel.

WHEN YOU WILL FIND OUT IF YOU HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL.

Award winners will be notified inlate September 2017 and will be invited along with their group to attend the awards event which is taking place in the Great Hall, Parliament Buildings Stormont on Thursday 5thOctober 2017.

PRIZES

All award winners will receive a commemorative award in recognition of their efforts plus a framed certificate. Individual winners will receive £100 worth of equipment of their choice and group winners will receive £200 worth of equipment for their group.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. These awards are open to residents of Northern Ireland, aged 12 and older.

2. These awards are not open to employees of Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, Coca-Cola HBC NI, oranyone connected with the organisation or with the promotion.

3. The winner’s names will be published on they have been notified.

4.Entrants confirm they are the sole author of the work and it is their original entry. They own the copyright and all other intellectual property rights to each image. They have the permission of anyone featured in the image (or in the case of under

18s, the consent of the parent or primary guardian).

5.Copyright remains with the entrant although winning images will be,and other images may be,used in conjunction with our media partners and for additional press purposes. This may include; brochures or printed produce relating to the competition, the organiser’s website or websites connected to the competition and work of Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful

6. The above information is correct although the organisers reserve the right to change any of the above without prior notice. Any breach by the entrant of the above terms and conditions will render their entry invalid. If a breach has occurred but is discovered after the award of a prize then the organisers may request the return of the prize.
7. A selected panel of judges will assess all entries and a shortlist will be announced following the closing date. All judges’ decisions are final and no discussion will be entered into on these decisions.

8. All photographs submitted must have been taken in Northern Ireland.

9. No digitally altered images will be accepted. (No filters, cloning, adding or removing elements).

10. Entrants must affirm that they have complied with all local and national regulations pertaining to protection of vulnerable habitats, places and activities.
