DRAFT MINUTES of the MEETING of SILKSTONE PLAYING FIELDS COMMITTEE held on Monday
25 September 17 at 7pm.

PRESENT: Chairman: R Leech (Silkstone PC)

J Dale (SUJFC u 18’s), A Horsfield (SUFC), R Stier (Silkstone PC) and J Whitmore (SUCC).

17-23 MINUTES


RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the meeting on Monday 3 July 17 as a true and accurate record, the Chairman signed the minutes.

Matters arising from the minutes:

John Whitmore has agreed to look at the ‘dull’ emergency lights in football changing room 2 as the room may need an extra fitting.

Tractor service – Let down by contractor. Jon Dale agreed to contact someone who may be able to help and will advise the Clerk.

Mole Control – Since the mole control contractor has retired a quote was obtained from Abacus Environmental but this was cost prohibitive so alternative quotation need to be sought. John Whitmore will check with a contact of his for mole control and advise the Clerk.
Shelving for cricket changing room to be progressed over winter.

17-24 PAVILION

RESOLVED that a skip will be hired for Friday 6 October to Monday 9 October. Cricket have arranged a tidy up and painting day on Sunday 8 October. All user groups to be advised so that they can check equipment in garage.

Health and Safety & Comments book

RESOLVED to note the following comments:
- Emergency lights bulb replaced in hall
- Cooler cabinets left unlocked with alcohol in
- Ceiling repaired in kitchen and roof repair – excellent service and work from roof contractor.

-  New large bin ordered for MUGA and car park litter to be collected by BMBC weekly. This is not for Pavilion waste – users of Pavilion must still take home rubbish.

17-25 RECREATION GROUND AND GROUNDS MAN

RESOLVED to note that Chappelow’s are currently on site finishing the drainage works to the cricket field.

It was agreed that Tony Clegg will meet with the groundsman to clarify the works to the cricket square and agree a way forward.

RESOLVED to note that the cricket club are progressing a grant application for a new roller.

RESOLVED that thought will be given to a new container after the tidy up weekend to see if equipment can be moved about so that a replacement container is not needed. John Whitmore and Clerk to liaise after the clear up weekend.

RESOLVED that the Clerk will find out about how s106 monies can be accessed for local groups and circulate information. John Whitmore noted the website for the South Yorkshire Funding Advice Bureau to check for funding streams for cricket.

RESOLVED that Andy Horsfield (with assistance from Steve Fletcher if possible) will look into a grant application to Barnsley MBC ward alliance for new goal posts.

RESOLVED to note that there has been a delay from the fencing contractor for the installation of the fence between the football field and wood. Andy is chasing this.

17-26 PAVILION /RECREATION GROUND BOOKINGS/HIRE

RESOLVED to note the bookings for Harriers for 2018. Cricket and Football teams will work around these dates and noted that Harriers book the facility up to 12 noon.

17-29 ANY OTHER PAVILION OR PLAYING FIELDS BUSINESS

John Whitmore will check what paint is left for the painting day.

Cllr Stier advised that there is space for 10 cars to park at the very top of the drive. The Clerk will e-mail all users asking that cars are parked at the top of the drive to alleviate congestion in the main car park. Clerk to progress quotes for car parking matting for the grassed verge.
