Exeter Foodbank seeksPart-TimeFundraiser

Established in 2008 Exeter Foodbank is an independent charityfounded on Christian principles, and part of the Trussell Trust’s UK network of foodbanks. Our mission statement is ‘restoring dignity and revivinghope’. We are inspired and motivated by the love God has shown to us, and the desire to demonstrate that same love in very practical and tangible ways to some of the most vulnerable people in Exeter. We follow the words of Jesus in Matthew (25: 35) ‘For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink’. These values are important to us and we aim to live them out in all areas of our work.

The Foodbank (winner of Exeter Living Awards Charity of the Year 2016) currently employs two part-time members of staff and is supported by a committed team of over 130 volunteers. A well-established project, last year the Foodbank provided three days of emergency food and support to over 5,000 people in crisis in the city.

The Foodbank has been blessed with good support by local organizations and retail outlets ensuring the food stock is maintained. However, as a charity we struggle to raise the financial resources necessary for the good running of the project. We have always been reliant on one off donations, grants and bequests.

With this in mind the Trustees are looking to recruit a fundraiser specifically to readdress the balance to ensure that there is a sustainable and regular income year on year.

This is a rewarding and challenging role and the successful candidate will be joining the Foodbank at an exciting time in its development.

They will have excellent financial and fundraising skills for a third sector organization, as well as strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills necessary to work with our existing staff, volunteers and external benefactors and supporters, along with a motivation to provide practical and compassionate support to people in crisis.

This advert is for a fixed term position of six months (with the possibility of this being extended dependant on the amount raised by the incumbent), for a part-time fundraiser working one day a week.Salary,to be negotiated, in the region of £400pcmtoreflect the candidate’s experience.
