Job Title:Assistant Manager
Reporting To: Branch Manager
- Primary Objectives
 
- To help your branch manager run a successful Seasalt store - using the company’s systems and procedures described in Our Branch Model
 - To work with your branch manager to help the company achieve its Mission and Vision by targeting our six key focus areas:
 
- People – training & developing our staff and making sure they’re happy in their work
 - Service – making sure we offer exceptional customer service
 - Product – making sure the right products are on display at the right time
 - The store – making sure our shops look great and our products are beautifully displayed
 - Our ethics – working hard to reduce the impact of our business on the environment, and being socially responsible
 - Profitability - growing sales and profits, through all of our sales channels and in particular our online store
 
- Main Tasks and Key Areas of Work
 
- Assist and work with the Branch Manager on our six key focus areas by:
 
-assisting in the recruitment and development of staff
-day-to-day management and review of staff and their duties/work objectives
-delivering training to staff – one to one, group sessions
-ensuring customers are dealt with as a priority
-leading by example with exemplary customer care through all stages, from greeting the customer to dealing with complaints
-motivating and training staff to give excellent customer service and role modelling and encouraging the collection of names and addresses for our online database to capture sales through all channels
-encouraging appropriate ‘add-on’ sales
-ensuring both staff and your own product knowledge is current
-getting the right product out on display at the right time with a good eye for visual merchandising
-maintaining excellent branch environment for customers and staff
-implementing company policies, procedures and systems (e.g. H&S, OBM, HR policy)
-opening/closing procedure for security of building
-authorising refunds, exchanges
-processing stock, deliveries, IBTs, stockroom systems
-organising stock-takes
-cashing-up, preparing till floats, doing the banking & petty cash,
-being focussed on daily/weekly sales targets and working to achieve them
-understanding and communicating branch data and targets e.g. customer spend, daily/weekly sales, branch scorecard, data collection
-controlling costs – wages, stationery etc
-taking responsibility for own self development
-presenting new ideas and using initiative within the business
- And any other additional duties required by the needs of the business
 
- Performance Targets
 
- Branch achieving its sales target
 - Branch achieving its data collection target
 - Improving ‘mystery shopper’ results
 - Regular staff training sessions
 - Improving staff satisfaction survey results
 - Staff inductions and performance reviews carried out effectively
 - Low staff turnover
 - Stock loss on or below agreed target
 - Costs controlled to agreed budgets
 - Our Branch Model understood and being used effectively within the branch
 
- Scope of Authority
 
- Assist with the recruitment and development of sales assistants
 - Assist with staff rotas
 - Change displays according to stock levels, sales data etc
 - Authorise refunds and exchanges
 - Action IBTs
 - Cash up & do banking
 - Petty cash
 - Keyholder
 
- Specific Requirements of the Post
 
- To represent Seasalt Limited and promote its brand image through all activities
 - Ability to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays and relief at other branches dependant on the needs of the business
 - Keep confidential any company business or statistics

ASSESSMENT CRITERA / ESSENTIAL SKILLS / DESIRABLE SKILLS
QUALIFICATIONS / GCSE or equivalent maths & English grade C or above?
WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS / Previous & proven retail experience
Experience of communicating and implementing policies/procedures / Experience of training others
Previous supervisory experience
PERSONAL SKILLS/ QUALITIES / Organised and manages time effectively
Friendly, smiling & interested in our customers
Keen to make the sale
Self motivated & able to use initiative
