Classroom Behavior – Chain Follow-up lesson

Objective: I can make positive choices about my classroom behavior.

/ ·  Follow classroom rules and expectations
·  Follow emergency procedures
·  Be where you are supposed to be / ·  Be considerate of others’ learning
·  Respect others’ space and belongings
·  Communicate in formal language

Materials Needed:

·  Strips of blue and white paper 2”x 11” to be provided by PBS committee

·  Markers and/or writing utensils

·  Stapler and staples

Teach (5 min):

The classroom is where students are most of the day. Brainstorm student behavior expectations in the classroom.

For example:

·  Raising your hand is an example of being respectful of self and others.

·  Coming to class with all supplies and textbook.

·  Be respectful of other’s learning by not talking while directions are being given.

Activity – (10 min):

·  On white board write R.O.A.R

·  Have students share what the initials represent

·  Pass out a white and blue strip of paper to each student

·  Students should select 2 of the letters (R.O.A.R.)

·  On one side of the white strip they should write their first and last name legibly and on the other side draw a picture what one of the letters would look like.

·  On one side of the blue strip they should write their first and last name legibly and on the other side write a statement that describes the other letter they chose.

·  As the students finish have them loop and staple the strips together in alternating colors
